The (relatively) good news is that Martin Brown at Porsce Tech in Meriden gets a guy to repair the pipe in situ....much cheaper than replacement, and a permanent repair, too!

Suggestion

I haven't noticed any issues with it yet but only picked the car up yesterday so aside from giving it a quick test, haven't really turned the AC on properly.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know this seems to be a common complaint on the 996, air con pipes being crushed by accidently jacking up the car on them. Mine were like it when I had the car and my A/C has never worked. My question is, has anyone else got crushed pipes but their A/C still works?

POST 2Original post

Just purchased a 00 996 C2 Cab and I had a Peter Morgan PPI done prior to purchase. One thing that did come back in the report was: "Air–con return pipe in right front sill damaged by poor jack placement" I haven't noticed any issues with it yet but only picked the car up yesterday so aside from giving it a quick test, haven't really turned the AC on properly. Will report back if I have any issues.

POST 3Original post

Our pipe(s) got crushed in the usual way a while ago.....didn't realise at the time, but the aircon worked for around 3 months after the damage was done....then the green stuff leaked out! The (relatively) good news is that Martin Brown at Porsce Tech in Meriden gets a guy to repair the pipe in situ....much cheaper than replacement, and a permanent repair, too! Pete

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Great stuff, very interested. :thumb: To be fair, it works on compression as aposed to circulation so a dented pipe should be ok IMO

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hmm... wonder how he patched it up? I was thinking welding a section in myself.

POST 6Original post

When I got my 993 the aircon tubes were leaking due to corrosion at a point where they go through rubber bushes in the sills. I had a mobile aircon specialist out, and he cut the pipes and bonded on some trick aluminium couplings to put them back together. They lasted the 2 years or so that I had the car. I'm afraid I can't remember the company or the product, but I would have thought they must be readily available to aircon engineers.

POST 7Original post

Where are these pipes situated? Are they on the passenger side just behind the front wheel? Taran :?:

POST 9Original post

Lol, no no, RHD drive here. Cheers Richard, Taran :thumb:
