Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I took it to the local indie(the nearest dealer is about 75 miles away) and he confirmed it, so it was replaced along with a new cap.
Leading evidence: 'Replace along' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'expansion tank' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean 1999 c2 cab just' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. After looking into it (and spending a lot of time here!) I figured it was the expansion tank.

I purchased a very clean 1999 C2 Cab just before Christmas (thanks Santa!)and I couldn't be happier.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just ordered a shift ****, the 3 spoke steering wheel, the alu gauge rings and black floor mats and I do also recognize that the Tom-Tom fits OK on the left side of the steering wheel as the dash is so wide on the right side (still not perfect).
Hello all!
I've been waiting for a long time for my first Porsche and finally my day came! I purchased a very clean 1999 C2 Cab just before Christmas (thanks Santa!)and I couldn't be happier. I spent many hours on this forum over the last 6 months gaining knowledge on the marque and went from considering a 964, then a 993 then ultimely buying the 996. Thanks to all on this forum for sharing your experiences. Here are a few pics; let me know what you think.
Nice car - love the carbon fiber. Is the section of the rear console with the ash tray & window buttons off center? Looks like it leans over towards the passenger seat.
I have the same Tom Tom unit and wish I could find a way to mount it below the windshield.
Congrats
Kolshak: It must have been the angle of the picture. I just looked at it again and it's prefectly straight.
I just got the TomTom. So far, it's been exactly right, but once I noticed that it rebooted itself for no apparent reason.
I love the CF also. The PO had one exterior shot posted on Autotrader when I first found it. He later sent about 20 additional pictures and to my amazement I found the CF and a 3 spoke wheel.
Congratulations on a nice and clean car. You'll love it. I enjoy every minute with my CAB - open and closed. You have already a nice starting point for future mods.
What's the puddle under the driver's side exhaust on the 3rd pic? I recently had my Coolant extension tank replaced and had some dropping at the same spot from above the exhaust end-pipe (unfortunately common issue with pre face-lift 996).
I do also have the same Tom-Tom and just love it. It's really hard to find a perfect spot to mount it in the 996.
What's the millage of your car and in which price range was it offered?
Your interior is def sweet - is it all CF or are the upper console & upper dash painted?
I like my Tom Tom unit but "really" wish I could keep it off the windshield - I found keeping it on the far left obstructs less of the road view though. If I had it to do over again I'd get a smaller unit.
Enjoy!
Hey Kolshak, it seams you have the same taste that I have but you're some steps ahead with your tan interior.
I just ordered a shift ****, the 3 spoke steering wheel, the alu gauge rings and black floor mats and I do also recognize that the Tom-Tom fits OK on the left side of the steering wheel as the dash is so wide on the right side (still not perfect). Where did you get the silver ignition key and blinker surroundings?
DownSouth - nice P-car! Thanks for posting the pics!
Agree with all of you about the TomTom. My wife gave me one for Christmas. I got the GO 510 model, which seems to be a little smaller than the two shown in the above pics.
I, too, am looking for an alternate place to mount it. While it is relatively small, I don't like the charger cord dangling over the dash to the cigarette lighter socket. I've been kicking around a way to mount it to the right of the shifter, near the right side of the lower center console. If any of us come up with an alternate way to do this, let's share the DIY solution!
If that is actually coolant, it also could be the tank cap failing to hold sufficient pressure. When my tank went bad, I had no coolant actually reach the ground, just the smell of it burning off on the exhaust.
When the cap fails, you can get
large
quanities of coolant escaping through the cap. Both cap and tank have been redesigned.
Very nice interior, enjoy! I also love the CF pieces that accent well on a lighter interior color. I believe I have the same interior than your car (grey-ish or light blue). Looks like your car has a lot of options, like the larger exhaust chrome tips, 3 spoke steering wheel, CF pieces, Litronics. Depending on your budget, you can do some additional mods like clear side markers, Alu-gauge, and Alu pedals
Cheers,
hwk72: Good catch on the puddle! I took those pictures about a week after I bought the car and the day I took those pictures I noticed the puddle also. After looking into it (and spending a lot of time here!) I figured it was the expansion tank. I took it to the local indie(the nearest dealer is about 75 miles away) and he confirmed it, so it was replaced along with a new cap. End of problem.
The car just turned 85K. Excellent service history. I bought it from an individual in Dallas. He was asking $28,900, I bought it for $28,000. In addition to the coolant tank, I had to buy one rear tire(odd because the other 3 are nearly brand new) and a new set of floor mats, graphite with euro trim and silver "Porsche" script.
Kolshak: I love where you mounted your TomTom. I'm moving mine today!
The upper console(horseshoe?) is that graphite-colored plastic on the upper portion and grey on the bottom.
Thanks for all your comments!
I'm planning on doing the clear side side markers soon. A friend of mine has a black '04 TT with clear lights and his side markers look much better than mine. I just did the floor mats, bumper plugs, driver's door lock plug and took the air bags stickers off the sunvisors.
Welcome Down South! Actually to Floridians like us, you are way Up North, and way West!
Hey, is that a Solo2 on your dash? I have the same one in the same spot.
Yes, it's an Escort Solo 2. I've had it for a few months and it's been very good. Saved me from a couple of tickets. The powered version is supposed to be more sensitive, but I didn't want to deal with the wire dangling around. Same as the TomTom. I turned off the X band since it not used by any law enforcement office in our state. Saves a lot of false signals.
