Leading evidence: 'Repair by a professional at the earliest opportunity' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check brake fluid level' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Or you could carefully top it off and then check level after a while.

Suggestion
Clean very well the entire area (I use simple green and rinse carefully with 'Low Pressure Water') to determine where the leak comes from, I would start by checking that the bleeder is tight (11mm socket), but don't overtight it..

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I made quick YouTube video for better viewing:
Part 1 (1:13) first view of leak and color
Part 2 (3:07) top/bottom view
Part 3 (1:24) deeper view
Part 4 not yet filmed - will be after clean up!

Part 3:

It's hard to tell from the videos. My suspicions based on the general areas would be (1) clutch slave cylinder or (2) oil dripping from the engine air intake tube where the Mass Air Flow sensor resides (I assume that would be as a result of your
AOS
going bad and allowing a lot of oil into your intake and throttle body tube). These are educated WAGs so they're worth what you paid for them.
Check the brake fluid level. It it is the clutch slave cylinder (my guess as well) you will see that you are low - the brakes and the clutch share the same hydraulic reservoir . Does the fluid smell like brake fluid or oil?
have you taste it..? hydraulic brake fluid is pretty bitter and looking at the color most likely is hydraulic brake fluid.
Based on the location you may have a leaking slave, which is not too expensive and fairly easy to replace…
This would give you the opportunity to flush the entire system (brakes and clutch) I can see a Motive Bleeder in your future
Thanks for the info. Leak is still present. It is not oil. It is brake or transmission. The leak appears to be coming from or near the shifting cable that connects to the transmission. What is near there that could cause this? You mentioned the slave... where is that at?
FYI it still leaks even if the car is parked
Looks like enough fluid is leaking that if it is from the clutch line or cylinder your brake fluid level in the reservoir up front should be low. Or you could carefully top it off and then check level after a while. You could also compare taste between the brake fluid reservoir and the leak. Transmission fluid is very different, much thicker. I think your car has the 6-speed? Check out the article on bleeding the clutch cylinder here - that will show you where it's at:
https://www.planet-9.com/reviews/se...p127-bleeding-the-clutch-slave-cylinder-bleeding-the-clutch-slave-cylinder.html
The
cap
won't fix the leak. Most likely you have a bad clutch slave cylinder. If you are really lucky, the bleed valve is just open a fraction of a turn. I believe you need a very short handled 11 mm flare nut wrench to tighten the bleeder valve. It is a tight fit. Once you get the wrench on the bleeder valve there isn't much room to turn it.
Mine is missing too. I noticed after the dealer service years ago and they said "there isn't a
cap
on the clutch slave". I knew they were BSing me but I left it that way. I doubt it matters.
ok definitely the transmission! Good news...I do have a rubber
cap
! Bad news is that i don't believe the leak is from the bleeder! The clutch slave had plenty of liquid on it... part number 96211623700 - this came directly from part. Found one website from China that has it for $200. Is this a common thing or am I just lucky? Any other site you can suggest or upgraded replacement part?
I have not heard that this is a common problem, so I guess you are lucky. I'm not sure about that number. A quick check on the sunsetporscheparts site yielded 9G2-116-237-01 for $112. Could also check out
Pelican Parts
.
Pelican Parts
has a slave cylinder from
Sachs
(the OEM supplier) for $57. Confirm the brake fluid is low and then you'll be sure the slave is what's leaking.
The rubber
cap
is just there to keep dirt out of the bleeder and is not critical. It's not uncommon for hydraulic cylinders to fail after a bunch of years. The rubber seals eventually go, or the cylinder internals get rusty if you don't bleed the fluid regularly.
Please do your car a favor and Don't buy any Chinese parts for your Porsche, there are plenty of reputable sources to get OEM parts like Pelican, Sunset Porsche, FPC Euro, etc.,
Clean very well the entire area (I use simple green and rinse carefully with 'Low Pressure Water') to determine where the leak comes from, I would start by checking that the bleeder is tight (11mm socket), but don't overtight it..
.
@Gilles don't worry i won't buy from that site! I have had good experience with Sunset,
Suncoast
and
Pelican
!
@gubi good find on that cheaper part! ty!
@danschy thanks again for the insight!
So it is a bit tight in there to work...will try that 11mm wrench. Called P-Dealership today. Quoted $410+tax for labor, parts on new slave install + transmission bleed. Considering that route...my hands are not huge, but i can tell that is a very small area to work in. I appreciate the comments! Nice to see a good online community...
Before you buy anything, you need to be sure what is exactly the cause of the leak…
IMHO, you should first clean everything properly to confirm where the fluid is coming from, then you can decided if want to replace the part or get it done by someone else
Very wise words @Gilles TY! Got Things cleaned up even better today. Here is a photos (not the best-bottom right) of the clutch slave. As you can see it had liquid on it. I also tighted the bleed valve just small bit.
Good news...it did stop leaking (cardboard is dry) and the brake level is still perfect.
I shifted gears around (felt normal). If no more leaks by tomorrow I’ll get her back on all fours and see how she is on the road! Thanks all for allowing me to share the learning adventure.
Update on this... leak is small and happens more when I don’t drive the car! I simply check the brake fluid level before driving. Only had to add less than 4oz of fluid ...
Leaks don't get better by themselves. The hydraulic brakes are extremely important to your and your passenger's safety, as well as anyone else in your car's path. Please have this issue checked and repaired by a professional at the earliest opportunity.

Good news. Replaced slave with OEM
Porsche
part (purchased from Sunset). PCA friend came to help tackle it. Bled the clutch twice. Feels great! Photo is before change (you can see dried up brake fluid.
