Prior to this (once it had righted itself) I did release and lock to check it was still ok which it was......and it never reoccurred during 2 other test drive by other prospective buyers.

I saw on a boxster forum that a similar problem was resolved by simply tightening the main steering wheel bolt.......any possibility of that?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi All, I seem to be having a problem with my steering wheel adjustment (2007 CS) . When in the locked position, the steering wheel doesnt move up or down (as expected) but it does move back and forth. Any ideas? Assuming a broken mechanism? Thanks

POST 2Original post

when the lock lever is down, the wheel should be able to move up/down and in/out.

POST 3Original post

Thanks, Yep when its down I obviously get full adjustment. When its up (in the locked position) it doesnt move up or down (as it should) but it continues to move in and out (as it shouldn't)

POST 4Original post

Hi guys, Well this issue had righted itself until a prospective buyer readjusted the wheel today and the problem reoccurred. Obviously embarrassing for myself, and after viewing this post himself, the thread doesn't reflect well on me. I did mention that I had issue getting the steering wheel in the correct position but earlier in the week upon request of the prospective seller and willing from myself, the car was sent to a Porsche specialist for a full 130 point condition report including areas of concern I have listed on this thread and others I have posted (Aircon and Throttle response worries). I was more than happy for this to be done as being relatively new to Porsche ownership myself I'm not clued up on whats normal and whats not, so having the specialists check it was peace of mind to me as a seller as well as for the buyer. Attached are the relevant areas of the check to correspond with my concerns (left column is good, right column is poor) and this shows no issues with the car in the areas I was worried about. Link to site with original condition check ( Porsche / Services / Condition Report) - ARMotors Porsche Specialist in Dubai and all over the UAE Yes I could be more open about things, but I can't list all my worries about my car. Being the OCD type, I think there is little niggles with every aspect of the car but I wont sell a car if I highlighted everything so left it to the pros! The prospective buyer did see that the steering wheel was a locked secure position (in both directions) prior to changing it to suite his driving position. Prior to this (once it had righted itself) I did release and lock to check it was still ok which it was......and it never reoccurred during 2 other test drive by other prospective buyers. Anyway, sorry for the long post but to come back to the issue......does anyone have any ideas on my issue and why it has suddenly returned. I saw on a boxster forum that a similar problem was resolved by simply tightening the main steering wheel bolt.......any possibility of that? Thanks, Matt

POST 5Original post

Hello Matt, I'm having the same problem with my 07 CS. The steering wheel doesn't lock (hold its place) when it is in the closed position. I was trying to take a look at your pictures but they appear to have been removed. Can you let me know how you (or the dealer) fixed this problem. Thanks in advance!

POST 6Original post

Hi sir, i am facing the same problem. How did you fix it?

POST 7Original post

I dont know how, but it just fixed itself. Just try to move it up and down, in and out and push the lever to the close position until it locks. (Crossing fingers so that it doesnt happen again)

POST 8Original post
