Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Its in one way quite superficial as we will just replace bolts etc with new.
Leading evidence: 'Replace bolts etc' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace bolts etc' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Good evening all,
Some of you might recall about early 2018 I was enthusiastically posting about a programme of work for my 996 TT.
Long story short. The guy doing the work stripped the car, sold the original parts, didn't fit all the new parts and sold these as well. What he had done was awful. Don't ask me how I allowed this as I still feel like a fool for being so gullible.
Some lads "recovered" the car in early 2019 where it has sat unloved as I neither had the heart or cash to fix it. No independent Porsche garage would take it on as for them it was commercially not viable. Early 2020 and the decision was scrap and strip - the irony being all the good stuff had already been stripped by said con man.
Spring - My best friend in Scotland (a car dealer) happened to pass a tucked away workshop in Scotland with some interesting projects on the go.
Archangel (Linlithgow) agreed to take it on and the car is totally stripped and works being carried out. You can follow the rebuild thread on their Facebook page. Theres a time lapse video of the engine if you are bored during lockdown
Hopefully I might get to meet some of you in 2021.
Stay safe and I hope all your Porsches are being pampered!
Best regards
Rikki
That is terrible. Any of us can be scammed and wonder afterwards how we could have let it happen, but these criminals are professional and the know how to convince you everything is kosher. So sorry to hear that it was so costly for you.
Hopefully the story has a happy ending and provides closure for you. Best of luck with it this time
[/b]
I wish you all the very best young man. Lets hope all works out well for you and very poorly for the thieving scumbag that put you in this position.
Would it be prudent to name the thief so others are not scammed also?
Wow. That's every petrolheads nightmare. :nooo:
I can't imagine the stress that must have caused.
I'm glad you've got your love back for it though. I look forward to seeing it all done. :thumb:
Sorry to hear of your woes and glad you're persevering!
Any chance of some pictures as not on facebook?
Also, I'm interested in your initial plans / journey with the car. What were you trying to achieve? There may be people on the forum able to donate spares to the cause?
Good luck
Ian
Thanks for supportive replies. I'll look to see if I can get some pictures up but don't hold your breath!
Re vision - I was sort of trying to do a mini "singer" on a 996. My interpretation of a car that was good on the odd track day but could equally get me safely across Europe in comfort.
Maybe the closest might be from, I think, CSR? But in a wide bodied form.
Anyway the lads are making good progress - car has been stripped, block is down south being examined (think its new liners and followers), roll cage is being fitted this week, and work started to retrim new seats I had to buy.
Once the block returns the fun bit of rebuilding can start and then the setting up of it all.
Thanks again
Ricardo
Had a look on their Facebook page and obviously I can't see all the details and costs etc but scraping seemed quite
Definitely needs some love but a decent little project.
Some criminal neglect by the 'person' who agreed to do the work.
A lot of people on here will be interested in the details so please keep us updated. I read stuff like this and think "I fancy having a go at some of that" then see a rusty nut and that is me out
All the rustyness can really be attributed to the car sitting out for over a year. Its in one way quite superficial as we will just replace bolts etc with new. the bore scope, I'm told, showed areas of "detonation", probably caused by muppet putting a wrong map on it? It wasnt bore scraping as such.
The good news is the guy who is doing the block said otherwise the block is in great condition which reflects the amount of service bills I have!
Cage is going in at the minute.
HAGW all
Ricardo
