About that Porsche feeling it's always there - regarding the price I would check KBB or similar sources for the price and expect the dealer price to be inline with them.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello Everyone,
I decided to finally post because I have been in the market for a new car lately. I have been looking at an S7 and the 650I Gran Coupe. While both of those cars are very amazing, I didn't quite feel like they were exciting enough. Also, I started to realize that in my price range (70-80k) there were a lot of really nice CPO Porsche cars for sale. I have never been around Porsche very much because my father was very into Corvettes. Therefore, I began searching this site to gain more information on what the differences were from model to model and what the different options included. After reading for hours, I finally decided to call a couple of dealerships and go check out a few cars. I found a wonderful looking black 991 S with beige interior and decided to test drive it. I have always heard stories of this being an incredible car, but I must say I wasn't prepared for how exciting it was. I am sure you all feel this way because I have seen the posts talking about how exciting it is to own such a car but I really just couldn't believe it. I used to own a C5 Corvette and I have driven an unknown amount of other Corvettes to include the ZR-1 and the new Stingray. However, even though the ZR-1 would be faster in comparison to the car I drove today, I still felt as though the 991 was more refined and also more solid in the turns. Anyway, the 991 certainly cured the excitement factor that I didn't feel when I drove the S7 and the 650 by far! I wonder though, does it ever go away, or are you always excited to drive the Porsche?
Also, from a price standpoint, am I allowed to post a link to the dealers website so I can get an opinion on the car I am thinking of buying? If any of you wouldn't mind, I would really appreciate any advice as it is a lot of money that I will be spending and I want to make sure I do the right thing. I noticed that the car was priced a few thousand of KBB price. The salesman said I could likely get them down to the KBB price but that would be about it. Is this normally the case with the Porsche brand? I am used to most cars coming in well under the KBB price.
Anyway, thank you all for reading my first post. I hope to join you soon as a fellow owner.

Bucknutt, welcome to P9 and hopefully soon we'll welcome your 911 along. I see you live in Cali, one of the right places to own/drive/enjoy a Porsche.
In answer to your question regarding excitement, I say you'll continue to admire your Porsche every time you look at it in the morning and every time you leave it behind in your garage at night. It'll put a smile on your face every time you start the engine, every time you gun the pedal down, every time you throw it on a curve and every time you take it to a track. You'll be greeted with a smile from other Porsche fellows, thumbs up from motorcycle riders and from kids in a school bus. You'll be welcomed with a smile every time you take your Porsche to an exclusive Porsche Club event from classic 911 owners, 986/987/981 owners and the 991 owners crowd.
The only smiles you'll miss is on the face of your spouse every time you upgrade to another Porsche generation. But still you'll be smiling as you buy her a diamond ring to win her smile back but she decides she doesn't want a diamond ring... she too wants a Porsche instead
To cut it short, it's a very addictive brand that'll keep you smiling from a model to another.
HA! That was very well written. You made ownership sound very exciting. It's funny, at first she said there is no way a 911 would be a good idea but after I showed her the pictures today she thinks it's "gorgeous". So she's wearing down.
Here is the link for the car. I hope it's okay that I post it here. I can't stop looking at it! So much fun!

By the way. That is an amazing Turbo you have. I can only imagine how fast that thing is after driving the S.
Hi bn76. Welcome to P9.
That basalt black with beige interior looks stunning. Love those wheels (wish I had them on mine).
The spec looks good but I can't comment on the price in USA but if I convert it to my local currency, it's a bargain.
(Didn't notice the mileage)

Hassaan is the poet Laureate amongst us, so he made Porsche sound THAT good.
In laymans terms, you'll never regret it. These things are frken awesome. There is no substitute is there slogan, and it is right on the money.
Thank you all for the warm welcome. I plan on having her drive it, as I think that would be an excellent idea.
Question for you guys though, I have noticed that some 2012's are 991's while others are 997's. I found that to be somewhat odd that they made two different generations of a car the same year? I haven't ever seen that in any other brand. Is that a normal Porsche integration of the next generation.
I see, that would mean that some of the late 997 buyers got screwed to a certain extent wouldn't it? Also, in LA traffic is crazy as everyone knows. The car I'm looking at has a PDK transmission that I was very impressed with when I drove it. However, I miss the fun that you have while shifting a manual. Do most come to appreciate the PDK more after some time or do people end up wishing they had the 7 speed?
PDK is the future. Most don't like change. But those who make the move don't look back. The GT3/RS and turbo/S come only in PDK.
I love MT but I have no regrets or second thoughts. Plus 911 is THE Porsche most suitable for PDK.
Welcome. Not sure what you are looking for but here are comments
1. Black car means you have a lifetime getting the swirls out.
2. Car is 3 years old, a year from now you are due for a major service. Anticipate the cost. Cost varies by dealer but $1,200 easy.
3. If they replaced two tires, its likely the rears. Check the fronts. You might need to buy two more soon.
4. What does new front and rear brakes mean? I assume that means pads and not rotors. that's fine.
IMO, its sort of a strange build. Not 14 or 18 way seats yet lots of luxury stuff like ventilated seats, porsche entry, Light design package (who buys that?), power steering plus (who buys that either?), CD changer??? That one is really strange. Who has CDs? It's not a performance build. No SPASM. No PDDC, No PSE, No sunroof delete. But its not a true luxury build either - no leather, etc.
If you are happy with the options, that is all that matters. It really depends upon what kind of build you want. If you want a performance build find SPASM, PDDC, SC, PSE, sunroof delete, and if possible, the powerkit (not in a 2012). If you want a luxury build, most everyone will have full leather plus other bits in leather and 14 or 18 way seats.
Yes, 2012 cars were a split year, part 997.2 and part 991.2. It's likely 2016 cars will be the same way, some 991.1 cars and some 991.2 cars.
Good luck ...
