Thanks Mike - I used a cheap pipe-bender for some of the curves, but didnt for this last bend......the radius it produces is quite large.

Thanks All......spookily I used a socket for a bend on the passenger side.....everyday is a school day.

Have got the passenger-side sorted (its much easier)....so am now replacing the brake nipples and I can then get onto bleeding the brakes (not sure I am looking forward to this - have bought the Gunsons Eezibleed which will hopefully make it easier).

I did the same while replacing the caliper to Flexi pipes on mine.

I think the pipe is just about OK, but one way to test would be to pressurise the system and make sure that the brake activates and releases at the same instant your foot comes on and off the pedal, and at the same time and rate as the opposite wheel.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello.....
Am after some advice. Have just bent and fitted the new brake lines (kunifer) for the rear of my car. Even with the gearbox out, it was tricky getting the line over the various pipes/wires and bent to shape, and back into the OEM clips - but its done.....
(No idea how people manage to do it, feeding the lines with the gearbox still in place)
Am now wondering if the final bend on one of the pipes I have bent is too tight.... I dont think its kinked, but would welcome a second opinion (realise its tricky to tell from photos.....I have tried to show where the pipe looks at its worst))
Worst case, I can cut that section off and find some slack to remake the bend, or even add a section - but would rather not, if I dont need to.....
Thanks both - really appreciate the advice - I will move onto finishing up the other side.
Just waiting on stainless bleed-nipples, as I dont want to put the old nipples back in the callipers (they arent very old, still had the covers on), as they have corroded quickly, so am going for stainless....
Looks like you just got away with it. Are you using a pipe bender? If not, consider getting one before you do the other side, they make bending much easier without kinking your pipe and they're pretty cheap.
Thanks Mike - I used a cheap pipe-bender for some of the curves, but didnt for this last bend......the radius it produces is quite large. Also for these last bends (once I had fed the pipe through from the underside of the car) there wasnt really room to get the bender in....

Hi
I have been doing some of this recently. It is quite difficult! I think the pipe is just about OK, but one way to test would be to pressurise the system and make sure that the brake activates and releases at the same instant your foot comes on and off the pedal, and at the same time and rate as the opposite wheel.
If its lazy at all then the pipe would be too constricted.
All the best

Thanks All......spookily I used a socket for a bend on the passenger side.....everyday is a school day.
Overall am really pleased with how its turning out. Its satisfying work (if slow, as I keep discovering things I need to order before I can proceed.
Another to add to my list of jobs to tackle. Where do you guys get your brake lines and couplings as a preferred supplier?
As for the transmission tunnel pipe - perhaps this could be improved over oem for easier maintenance (although any renewed pipework should last another 20 years)
Keep up the good work. I expect you will rectify any bends as your experience improves.
I remember on the 944 most used to buy the kit for a VW camper and modify that as components were the same saving on Porsche tax.
Thanks for the encouragement.......
Turns out I couldn't leave the bend as it was....as I didn't fancy the brake-line being just-about 'ok'.....so I redid it this morning (cutting off the section I didn't like and taking up some of the slack elsewhere to create enough to re-bend the final bit) . Am still deciding if I am happy with it.....
As for alternative routing of the transmission tunnel pipe. I have seen it discussed on here previously - I think most people conclude that putting it under the gearbox would be exposing it to more risk..... My thought is that using Cunifer, it will hopefully last the life of the car, so am happy to stick to the OEM route...
As for parts....similar to the 944 cost-saving tactics, I bought Audi flexi lines (same measurements and meets the specs required)....much cheaper than the Porsche version - not my idea, credit to Wasz)
I bought the Cunifer here

That bend looks equally "just about ok..." only in a slightly different area.
I did the same while replacing the caliper to Flexi pipes on mine. Decided it was ok at the time. Now I lie awake at night stressing about my low standards.
Ahhhhhhhhh    .......UncleP I struggled to get a decent bend in there.....Its definitely better than yesterdays.
I think I will bend a section of pipe off the car and add it in with a joiner.....that way it should be perfect....similar to you, I will keep wondering about it, if it isnt perfect. Would rather fix it now, while I havent put the new fluid in yet.
I was only winding you up... sort of
Learnt a neat wee trick from this very forum regarding fluid loss. Stick a rubber glove over the fluid reservoir then put the cap back on to create a vacuum. Allowed me to cut the rusty end off the front pipe and put a new union on only losing minimal fluid.
