Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Drilling it out was a pain, but I avoided having to use a helicoil/timesert.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well that's coilovers fitted, wheel back from Royal (looks great) new discs and Pagid RSL pads. New brake pipes. Went to put the nearside caliper back on and boom. There we go, another thing wrong. The bottom caliper bolt would not tighten at all, when removing it the threads must have pulled out with it. It has not been overtightened as it would not even go tight. I'm ordering a 90mm m12x1.5 to see if that extra 20mm will enable me to tighten it up. It really is one thing after another with these old girls though. Like a hight maintenance woman lol. Anybody else had bother with the caliper carrier threads?
That's cool mate thanks very much. I'll see what happens tomorrow when I ring local machine shop. Thinking I'll remove hub and get s time sert done. Just hoping when I put the other caliper back on that is ok.
Time sert is the best repair i feel .. i just don't get on with helicoils i'm afraid ..
You can buy a kit with all the parts needed and unfortunately its not uncommon.
Its worth removing you rear ones , slapping plenty of ally grease on the threads and refitting whilst your there .. rear ones are a pain to drill out , need an angled drill to get in there .
Ok mate cheers for the advice. I'm waiting on new front anti roll bar links as one was seized and totally buggered from removing it so have a few days grace.
Hi
What a pain. On my Boxster the upper calliper bolts came out easily, but the lower ones with the open ended hole were very tough. Reversed directions a lot, used much penetrating oil and a tap afterwards to clean the threads.
One came out a bit then snapped off at the head, halfway down and then flush. Drilling it out was a pain, but I avoided having to use a helicoil/timesert. I drilled the bolt as much as was safe then cut slots in it with a junior hacksaw blade, tapped the sections in and removed with long nosed pliers.
All the best
