The LED's produce no heat and are pretty bright and could be used for the DLR function instead of the main low beam halogens.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm thinking of adding LED running lights in the valence of my 2000 996. I'm thinking this may be a bit gauche (sp?) but I believe in them and don't mind people mistaking the car for a newer model. I see several on the inet and wonder which are the best --most factory-- looking. Thoughts? jvm

POST 2Original post

Hey jvmcnair .. I've got the same desire and question. Also wondering about LED tail lights? There are several on the net but none work on the C4S.

Check out the posts on 6SP. When and if these will become available for the wide bodies is still unknown. There is a lot of interest, just nobody making them.

POST 4Original post

I've got a set of LED's that I had planned on mounting into the lateral plastic strip in the front air intakes and use them as DRL's but have held off as someone accused me of wanting to look like an A4! Instead I have a plan B where I'm thinking of installing a set of LED's in the little park lights (one side lights up only at a time). I disabled the DRL's as the halogens 'bake' the inside of the housing being in the 'ON' position during the day so I am thinking of cross wiring the park lights so that both come on when I position the light switch to the left setting. The LED's produce no heat and are pretty bright and could be used for the DLR function instead of the main low beam halogens.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
