I've been out for a test drive and its spot on - really precise, clean change with only slight notchyness when cold but less so than before.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just got my GT3 shifter, centre console all stripped out and I remember reading to 'mark the cables' which I did. Not understanding how the cables locate my marks were useless. Basically the end of the cable is threaded and so are the connectors on the linkage giving some fore / aft adjustment. It is this positioning on the old linkage I've lost. Box was in neutral and with the green selector tool in place is it simply a case of pushing the cable ends in where they lay? Reason I ask is the left cable is a little short of the linkage and needs pulling 1-2mm to get it to locate? Not run it yet but seems to shift OK with clutch depressed. Any advice on correct adjustment technique greatly appreciated. Regards Ian.

POST 2Original post

With the gearbox in neutral, the gear lever should be vertical in both X Y axis. If not, with the car in neutral, release the cable clamp (or however they attach), hold the lever vertical, then reclamp. No need for any selector tool, etc.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks - it came with the green clamp so thought I'd use it I'm sure I've done it correctly now. Cheers Ian
