Did Porsche Try to Sneak This Exclusive Edition 911 Targa 4S By Us?
Another 911 variant, 15 cars in Gulf Blue
So why the MT version more money than the PDK?
Is this a new trend? 229,500 Euro, today is ~$246K. $246,000 for a Gulf Blue (which is a special color), manual transmission, X51, targa???
I saw that the other day and thought they said it was not only number limited but country limited as well. Looks way over priced to me but is nice looking. I don't know if the manual really costs more or if the author of the article accidentally reversed the info, probably best to check with Porsche.
Some reasons Porsche "might" give for charging more for a manual:
1) It's ultra exclusive, not like your run of the mill Porsches that all have PDKs.
2) It's GT3/GT4 like
3) Extra cost in installing an extra pedal for a clutch
4) Expensive shifter cables that won't break required a costly redesign, simply passing on the costs
5) Special mounting brackets required to fit the manual transmission into the car
I could probably come up with more if I thought about it but will leave that to the rest of you...
Looking at the original article, its a celebration of the 50th ann of the targa. Gulf Blue is an approved PTS color. The car comes with SC and the wheels.
It does not come with X51. It's not the Targa GTS. No Burm. No Ceramics, nothing special about this at all other than Porsche slapping a 1 out of 15 cars label on it.
No clue why PDK costs more. It say that in the original article too.
The car is another example of manufactured "exclusivity" by Porsche, where they selectively pull items from the parts bin to create something that really isn't all that unusual, select a PTS color, maybe throw a bit of patterning and a plaque into the interior, then do a shortened production run and slap a big price tag on it. it appears having a manual gearbox is now officially "special."
A quarter million dollar gussied up Targa makes zero sense to me. For that kind of money, you could just about squeeze into a lightly optined GT3, a 981 and a Macan. Or a nicely optioned GT3 and a GT4 or Spyder.
I think you meant 6MT cost more, not pdk.
...but probably a typo in the article.
Looks stunning in gulf blue, however not worth the exclusivity premium. I'd guess Porsche account for that in the arbitrage line.
Not possible - the mentioned cars together would cost you EUR 355,800 in the Netherlands!
GT3 starts at EUR 200,500, 981 Cayman starts at EUR 70,500 and the Macan starts at EUR 84,800.
The GT4 is EUR 126,100!!
As this Exclusiv Targa is for the Netherlands only - and they have a lot more taxes on cars than we do ...we can't simple compare prices here.

Maybe the increased cost for a 6MT is a penalty for the lower mpg and higher emissions?
Taxes can make a huge difference. For reference, these are prices in Hong Kong:
981 Boxster S: 130K USD
981 Cayman S: 140K USD
991 911 GT3: 335K USD
These are prices of a basic car with no options. All options are taxed at 100%! US definitely is a great place to own these cars ...
