Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I've got some tiny tiny bubbles underneath the gauges on my dash - specifically the rev counter as it happens. Doing some research online seems to imply that these are an aftermarket addition and underneath there are black instruments. I've never particularly liked the silver faces as is and would much rather have classic black gauges so can I just peel these things off and chuck them in the bin and have nice black dials? What's the best way to get the pins off if that is the case?

POST 3Original post

I have the same thing on mine. They are listed as a factory option but still seem to be stickers because of the bubbles. Was hoping to get replacement gauges but on hold until later due to $400 prices!! There is a company that supply and fit replacement dials faces or stickers (not sure) but never been able to get an answer over last few months. I guess possible they could be black underneath but if factory possibly not, if you look deeper, let me know as would rather have black face dials than bubbling silver ones (mine are tachometer and fuel only that are bubbling). Plenty of videos on U tube, can remove needles but needs care and advice seems to be directly upwards to avoid breaking anything and Mark where they point to before removal so they go back in same place. Good luck

POST 4Original post

Hi Do you know if there is somewhere I can buy aluminium rings for my 997.2 dials? I only ask because of your signature ? Thanks,

POST 5Original post

I've just ordered a set of replacement gauges (not decals) from these guys; https://tachoscheiben.newtacho.de/ Bought through their eBay shop for about £77, incidentally a colour change from my factory silver gauges, I've heard good things about them albeit a little fiddly to fit :thumb:

POST 6Original post

I believe that these guys have a pretty good reputation though can't say I've tried them myself. I don't think I have the "Delicate touch" and patience to fit these properly myself! I DID fit the brushed aluminium guage rings on my 996 though and they did give the cluster a bit of a visual "Lift". http://www.reapautomotivedesign.com/porsche-dials.php

POST 7Original post

Haha just ordered some red dials for my 997 - let's hope they come through ok. I wanted to use Reap, but they are so busy that the wait was too long for me

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No mine look like this (albeit without the strange American temps) Thinking more logically they can't be stuck on as the numbers are dark on my panel and white on the black instruments which obviously wouldn't work.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
