Hi All.
First post in the 911 section!!!!, current Cayman is on the market and i have seen a 2008, Carrera S for sale. test drove it yesterday...awesome, how good to feel manual gears again, from a tiptronic it will get some gtting used too, especially with the short shift.....thats of course if i buy it!
I have a question, the car looks perfect, apart from possibly one noise i hear when changing up years, if im normal driving, no noise. If i drive spirited evert time i engage the gear, lift the clutch there is a slight thud when it engages, im not sure if this is me getting used to a manual again, or a mechanical issue i should be aware of?
Am getting the car checked out before purchase, but wondered if any one had any thoughts on this, and maybe other checks i could do on the car to alleviate any concerns i may have?
Any comments helpfull!
I think you pretty much have a hold on what to do,....have it checked out thoroughly befor the purchase by someone (dealer/independent) that knows later model Porsches.
The noise could be something your just not used to after driving a Tip for a while, but it really doesn't sound normal to me. How many miles? Past maint history?
It could be something little such as a clutch master/slave that needs to be replaced, or just a proper flush and bleed of them. Depending on miles it could be a clutch/pressure plate that needs to be replaced. There is also a dual-mass flywheel that could be having some issues. Bottom line, let us know what a good tech finds.
Good luck with it!
Who is checking out the car for you? Are you buying it from a private party?
I would have a Porsche dealer do the PPI for sure. And ask them to run an overrev report. Especially since its a 6MT. I don't think they'll run one unless you ask.
welcome! looking forward to seeing pics
Thanks guys, the car is being checked tomorrow so will ask them to do an overrun report also.
The car has 50k kilometres, And has full dealer service,
Will keep you posted with updates
still no check done, been a few delays with my car being sold, and the owner of the Carrera having issues with the Aston Martin he is buying (corroded subframe) but i have finally sold my car, we are doing the transfer tonight...
I should have the condition report for the Carrera tomorrow evening, and all going to plan i should have the car by saturday! woohoo! cant wait...
