Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I was advised that this is a system fault and to reset it by disconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes.

Perhaps as you have removed the battery to charge it , that might reset the fault.

I have tried the only reset I can find, put the key in, turn on the ignition, take it out and press the button on the key fob.

Had a similar issue with mine after using the key to open the car after it went into sleep mode, the drivers door will unlock but the central locking doesnt activate.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Am sure I've had this before and performed some sort of reset and it fixed it.
I have recently moved my car to clean it and unlocked it with the key as the 5 day remote fob activation of the central locking has passed. Now I cannot open or close it with the fob without the car beeping twice at me. Also the drivers window doesn't go down when I open the door. Am sure I've had this before and performed some sort of reset and it fixed it. I've tried everything ansd it keeps doing the same thing.
If I lower the window, I can lock the car and get the window to go all the way up with no alarms going off afterwards,m but it beeps as soon as I unlock it.
I have tried the only reset I can find, put the key in, turn on the ignition, take it out and press the button on the key fob.
I have looked around the 996 section but can't find exactly what mine is doing.I think it's punishing me for not using it for the past 7 weeks.Any ideas?
If the window isn't dropping that hints at a problem with a door latch microswitch, the alarm may be seeing a problem there and thinks something is still open?
The battery is a 5 year warranty Bosch at only 2 years old and been on an optimate, BUT maybe it is failing. I can't get a full charge (green light) on it on the optimate.
Its my understanding that it beeps twice if the any of the following are open.
Luggage Compartment
Engine lid.
Glove box
Storage bin behind the hand brake.
Might be worth trying the simple stuff first.
Some further discussion here regarding "two beeps";
Comments by Richard H maybe helpful, and the subsequent discussion thereafter.

I have a similar intermittent fault; and it shows in many forms...
The first fault is when unlocking the car (either key fob or with the key) the alarm beeps twice and the locking mechanism can be heard to operate several times after the doors are open.
The more annoying faults is when I'm driving the horn will beep twice and the interior light will illuminate.
The central locking switch on the dashboard is always lit up red and pushing this sets up the door locks to operate in a random manner and the horn beep twice and interior light come on.
I was advised that this is a system fault and to reset it by disconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes. This seems to have solved the fault for now.
Perhaps as you have removed the battery to charge it , that might reset the fault.
If you gave me 10 mins with a tester connected i could say what switch or what alarm faults are current ..
As i'm no different than any other garage mechanic then it gives you an option ..
In other words a diagnosis shouldn't cost you too much .
What you can try ..
Drivers door lock , i assume you haven't opened the passengers one since this started ?
well the lock assembly in the door , use WD40 or similar and generously spray the door catch then close and open the door about twenty times ..
Fingers crossed as if not IMHO your back to my first comment
Had a similar issue with mine after using the key to open the car after it went into sleep mode, the drivers door will unlock but the central locking doesnt activate. Then key in ignition the car then seems to be a bit confused, the central locking control button on dash stays red it activates the central locking but with two beeps, lock the car with fob 2 beeps. Unlock pasenger door window didnt drop
