Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Having replaced coolant core plug before I have used a slide hammer with a screw in the end, self tap the screw into the plug and slide hammer the plug out, clean up the area and replace with a new plug.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

With yours being an oil plug, i would drain most out before attempting. With OPC being closed at the moment I would look for the same sized one on ebay or similar, I'm getting most of my parts from there with OPC being closed at the moment.
Mines been weeping out of the same plug for some time. For what its worth its not gotten any worse and its not been flagged as something to worry about by Northway.
Thanks
Thanks for the link and the slide hammer suggestion.
Will try that and order the part.
It's leaking more than weeping so I need to sort it out would worry me too much to leave it.
Thanks
Oil will sit there when the engine is off, this is the lowest point on the camshaft cover, it is at the bottom of the tube which the head scavenge pump sucks the air/water up through to return to the sump.
MC
This is what the inside of the core plug looks like, looking down from above.
It is slightly recessed in a hole, so if there was a small amount of swarf it would most likely stay around that area, particularly since there will be oil there to hold it. The area could be washed out with a spray afterwards.
You could try gluing a bolt on the outside with JB weld or similar, but not sure you would get it to stick well enough.
MC
The best solution is to drill it a little to get the core plug thinner in that specific area so you can start the screw thread off, a small tap with a hammer may punch it through, then no swarf will go into the engine. Don't try to punch it through without making it thinner or you may punch the whole core plug in and it'll be hard to get it back out.
Also some heat around the casing when you are ready to pull it out will expand the casing to make it a less tight fit.
It will be a press fit, as evidenced by the fact that there is nothing there to turn it round with, and there is nothing on the other side of it for it to bottom out against, or any visible threads on the inside of the case.
