Both going for the same price, the cab's got low, low mileage (nowhere near 10K). What would you get?
Never driven the TT, however drove the 991
Carrera
S, and it was positively a great experience. I thought the acceleration, on Sport + , was jaw dropping. It felt much brisker than my old 1993 TT Supra, and that was a very fast accelerating car. The sound the stability and the fit and finish were excellent.
Cheers
My brain says the TT since it has taken the biggest depreciation.
My heart likes the new
Carrera
S.
It would depend on how long I am going to keep the car, and if I was going to use it as a daily driver. Would I track the car? I have not driven either car.
Go drive them both. See how you like the cabin of the TT.
Although i never drove any of them, i would go with the new 991 S as long as it has the important extras.
Wish i had that dilemma right now
BTW i would never get a cab Turbo.
Is the Turbo a manual? If so, I would go for the Turbo cab. If it has a Tiptronic, no ...
The Turbo has about 100 more horsepower and loads more torque. The quarter mile and times to 100 on the net are very close, so the Turbo advantage will come into play at speeds from 100 up. If it aint considrably faster, it needs attention.
The 991 will do far better in terms of MPG and upkeep costs, if they matter. The older car will give more the traditional Porsche thrill ride all the time. That and the top down are not replacable experiences.
The 991 may seem more like a GT car until you get on it and learn how to use what it gives. Ultimately benifits are higher limits and better turn in- more Cayman like that old 911. If you go for the 991, strongly consider
PASM
Sport+. The new suspension is so compliant that it rides better lowered with stiffer springs and roll bars than the older cars did with normal suspensions. One poster here also suggested not getting the steering + option as it worsens the already changed feel of the electric rack. I personally find the steering feel with
PASM
+ to be outstanding tho different from the older cars.
I've driven both and I would take the 991S. I passed on a turbo. It has a lot of eye appeal and it does get the heart pumping at speed but you rarely get to use it in day to day driving.
Also, you get to break the new 991 in the way you want to do it. Low miles on the turbo doesn't mean it was not abused.
2009 TT 911, rated at 450 hp
2012-13 991 (911)
Carrera
S rated at 400 hp
Cheers.
Apples and oranges. Turbo vs. non Turbo, cab vs. coupe. Insofar as usability is concerned all these cars have more power and acceleration than can, or should, be used on the street. I've never been a fan (there's a pun in there
) of the Turbo. Even though it is blindingly fast it has very little
exhaust
sound w/o an aftermarket modification. What you're really doing is shopping price equivalents which is understandable but doesn't necessarily allow you to focus on what you really want rather than how much bang can you get for your buck. I'd start over and ask myself what I'm really looking for in that next Porsche.
I strongly recommend you test drive both. I loved the 991S till I drove it, that's why I encourage you to do so.
Other than the driving experience and the obvious difference in performance, there's the looks. The 997 tt loses to the 991 S in that category for it lacks the luxury and new appealing look. Other than that it's a winner IMO.
But I wouldn't decide if I were you till I drive both... Seriously!

Just want to point out that 2009 was the last year for the Mezger 3.6 engine in the turbo, if long-term collectibility is a consideration at all
Having test-driven a 991S and been driven in a turbo (never drove one i'm afraid) I personally would pick the turbo
