Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This fabulous looking speed yellow (of course) 996 Turbo X50 has been up for sale with Bure Valley for several months. http://www.burevalleyclassics.co.uk/listings/porsche-911-996-turbo-x50/ The high def photos seem to show a very nice well looked after car, regardless of the slightly higher 95k mileage. Any thoughts why this isn't selling?

POST 2Original post

Colour perhaps, speed yellow isn't to everyone's taste, nor mine as it happens, however I actually think this is stunning.

POST 3Original post

I'd say it's entirely down to price. It's about £7k overpriced for the current market and prices are only heading one way once the summer is over and furloughing ends. Source: https://www.essexprestigeautos.co.uk/used-porsche-911-harlow-essex-2483384

POST 4Original post

I think the colour is great + X50. Very rare, priced a bit high compared to the market. It would be a great buy for low to mid £30k's imo.

POST 5Original post

For an X50 it's well priced for what it is but I'm not sure how big the market is for that colour and those miles. In the current market it would definitely be worth making a low ball offer.

POST 6Original post

I like it. Porsche colours of the period are pretty dull in my opinion so this is an exception. The mileage is not an issue with an engine made from dark matter providing services tick the box. However, I think many of us will get a shock at s/h prices nose-dive coming out of this crisis. It will sell for anyone wanting to pay.

POST 7Original post

Did you attach the wrong comparison link :?: "£7k overpriced" seems a bit harsh. Asking prices for the X50 996 vary significantly with mileage with sub-40k mile cars normally up for £50k+. I'm not sure I've seen an X50 dealer car advertised for the £31k you're suggesting since they were at rock-bottom in 2012.

POST 8Original post

Never ceases to amaze me how the brighter colours are considered harder to sell :floor: :hand: Seriously quite the opposite! Down to mileage mainly, soon as you get close to 100k on the clock the market appeal dwindles Massively and people want a bargain. The colour tax is also playing a big part if that were silver it would be much cheaper, Ashgoods just sold one for high twenties with the same miles.

POST 9Original post

Oli/Bure Valley are down the road from me and I bought my car from him. I found Oli straight forward and a pleasure to deal with. Although I'm not looking to change (and if I were it would be the 997 turbo he has), this car did catch my eye when first listed and I think looks lovely. Everyone seems to want silver or black which I don't get when it comes to a super car of its day. This isn't cooking Pork.

POST 10Original post

Is the right link. How can a 996 Turbo X50 on 95k miles be worth only 2I less than a 997 turbo on 65k miles??? One of those cars isn't priced correctly. Low mileage cars may command a premium, but this isn't one And I think your comment re 2012 is very apt, as in my opinion, that's where we're headed and possibly worse. I hope to be proved wrong.

Front Brake caliper brake decal is on upside down and not even straight - strange... that would make me wonder why... and then I would start wondering what else might not be as straight as looks initially suggest... It might be more tired than the photos suggest. But as others have said, Yellow has a particular/limited buyer. I think it looks great, but I couldn't drive it as I would not be able to go anywhere unnoticed. I had customized a mint green Karmann Ghia for 16 years - I've done my bright coloured car Phase!

POST 13Original post

It's a lovely colour, but in small doses. I don't think i could own it Plus the money is high for that mileage. I'd be expecting closer to £30k for 95k miles, yes even with the x50 pack. You can get 997 turbos for not much more than they're asking for this.

[/quote] With respect, you're comparing apples with pears. If anything it's the 997T that's priced incorrectly. That 997T is the cheapest dealer car with those miles that I've seen for a while but even if it was £45k it would be 'valued' less than a same mileage X50 996T. This yellow 996T X50 is the price it is because of the mileage. I know of four lower mileage cars on the market at £49,995 and above. Don't get me wrong, I can't understand why anyone would pay more for a 996T than a 997T but that IS the market.

My instincts tell me that one of those cars will sell at or near the asking price and one won't, which ultimately tells you which one is priced correctly.
