Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I was on a machine without photoshop so it was the best I could do at the time.
Leading evidence: 'best i could do at the time' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'best i could do at the time' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Year after year, the wife asks me what I'd like for Christmas and I always tell her that she's already given me all that I ever could want. As it seems that she actually takes my answer seriously, I figured it was time that I took matters into my own hands.
I got a call on Fri from a local shop with a heads up on an 00 C2, blk on blk with 44k miles. Went to look at it at during lunch and drove it home that night. I rule!
pics...
Sweet new ride! Have Fun!
(Pumpkin lights have to go - only a $25 mod - will look sweet on the black)
I have a '00 with 49k and it hums along nicely.

Gotta say, so far, I love it!
Having owned various p-cars with this being my first foray into 911 ownership, I must say it was long overdue.
I've driven a friend's 964 and some early 911s but the 996 is a whole other machine. It's much more refined and precise as a whole, yet there's no doubting at which end the engine resides.
One other observation is that it feels much lighter than it actually is...a feeling that that gives a sense of instability at higher speeds. You must remember I have grown used to the high speed stability of the 928. A good way of explaining it would be to say that if I was going to have an uncontrollable sneezing attack at 160mph, I'd rather it be in the 928.
But if I'd want to experience the connection a car has with the road at all speeds and possibly try to challenge a few laws of physics, the 996 is the car.
But then again, I've only put ~60mi on it so far so I don't really have enough seat time for a detailed review yet.
Too cold? Damn, with the weather we've been having I often forget that I live in the northeast. I love the black too but I have to admit I thought twice about it.
I've found that I spend at least 3X the amount of time trying to keep my black cars looking presentable than I do with any other. The wifes has an alpine white 986 that I could detail with windex if I wanted to and it would still look good.
My wife and I have just started to "work" on reproducing. I figured that since she's so occupied with schedules, vitamins, supplements, and books on the subject, that she wouldn't notice...I was wrong!
Actually she's been pushing me to pick up a 996. Believe it or not, she told me that I don't do enough for myself.
I honestly have not accepted any gifts from my wife for Christmas. We have a agreement that we give non-material items such as spending more time,
planning a special trip or perhaps, as Nicolaas has done, impregnation.
Yep, those sidemarkers will be the first to go. Damn things look out of place. I'll probably start looking for some new wheels after that. The 18" twist that are on there now have a bit of curb rash on 'em. My car had 44333 when I picked it up. Still haven't broken 44000 yet.
Rob,
Oh, I've been lookin, just not actively pursuing. Sort of just waiting for the right one to fall into my lap as did this one.
You might remember, back on one of those "My engine blew up!!!" threads that I stated I was looking for a 996. I'll be sure to share more of my impressions once I've gathered a bit more seat time.
Thanks all for the congrats. And thank for the information I've gathered here that has helped me find my latest toy.
Damn, now I'll be in another forum. At least I sold the 944.
If it's not too bad, you can fix it yourself:

Congrats, Excellent looking car, enjoy it in good health!!! I have a 2000 Carrera 2 with 42,000 miles and it drives like new. I've owned mine for about 9 months now and I still do this
every time I drive her.
P.S. - Nicolaas conrats to you too.
P.S.S. - Baby seats fit great in the back of the 996.
I HAVE 2003 996 CAB FOR SALE WITH ARTIC SILEVER AND DARK BLUE INTERIOR MODS ARE B&M SHORT THROW SHIFTER AND GHL EXHAUST TURBO OEM TIPS AND K&N INTAKE GIAC CHIP FLASH NEW CLUTCH 2500 MILES ON IT BEST OFFER %$$$$$$$$
Well no special options to speak of...heated, memory seats but not much else. 433xx miles on it. The only flaws that it has are curb rashed rear wheels and split spoiler bellows(fixed that one last night).
Ah ha! That would be my 986(wife's)...
