Title. My check engine light came on at work the other day so I immediately turned it off and haven't started it more than once since (Literally started than turned it off). I'd like to get it home from a public parking lot sooner than later but just don't wanna chance anything, so not really sure what to do there. My mechanic and I both think it has to do with o2 sensors or the MAS but I can't get the shop in till monday, is there any way I can look at it and determine what it needs or should I just wait it out and not move the car till than? I'm far from a mechanic but fairly simple youtube videos get me by
Code also says some sort of signal isn't working with the banks 1 and 2 so not really sure if that helps either. Obviously without seeing the car you don't know but just looking for possible causes of this code from fellow other owners or enthusiasts.
Any help greatly appreciated as I'm trying my best to not freak out and get back on the road as quick as possible without having a destroyed engine!
what was the code ? How did you retrieve the code? Did the engine quit or run badly after light came on?
Don't got the paper by me but just mentions lean mixture around bank 1 and 2, and a some sort of signal not being connected to 1 and 2. Got the codes from Canadian Tire (just a quickshop) but codes are too vague for me to know for sure. Engine runs fine, light came on I just turned it off and haven't turned it on since, just scared of potentially ruining it lol
Is the light orange or red? Orange means you can proceed with caution. Red means don't drive it. And knowing what codes Canadian Tire found might be helpful... but more helpful will be a complete system scan with a
Porsche
-specific diagnostics tool.
BTW - It appears you've owned the car for several years (bought it when you were 17! and now you're 20?) - what sort of service history do you have on it?
Did you ever resolve the issue? Maybe post the solution?
Hey, I reset the codes and it never came back. Car has put on probably 15k km since than and has been running just fine. I can't speak for everyone because sometimes the code will probably be very serious (as I took it) but it may just be fussy.
