yeah, I know that this debate has been going on for a long while and to be honest i think the fair answer has something to do with what you're using the car for and how you're looking for it to handle.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

27 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guys. I am in the market for a 02/03 C4S. My budget is hopefully $50,000 or less. Mileage should be below 60,000. If anyone has anyone info, contacts, etc I would be grateful. I prefer the color white but I have not seen any. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

I thought you bought earlier in the year when Gant bought the Submarine (that you were also looking at). Am I mis-remembering?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You are correct. I almost bought the same submarine Gant bought but was unable to acquire my underwater certification license in time. Thank God I dodged that torpedo. So yes I guess you could say I would like to upgrade. It is also possible the C2 required a better driver than I was.

POST 5Original post

I'm curious (being a C2 driver), what do you think that you'll get out of the C4S that you didn't get out the C2? BTW, if I see a C4S I'll let you know.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Uh oh. I feel another can of worms being opened here.....I am looking for a more stable and predictable car on the road and track and aesthetically the wide body is very appealing. The basic idea is to reduce the risk of anything happening on the track. I believe I would become a more talented driver with the C2 but I am simply trying to lower my risk in any way I can. Is my logic wrong?

POST 9Original post

Popcorn machine is hot, the butter is melted, the salt shaker is full, and the drinks are nice and cold! Come and get it!

POST 10Original post

Understandable. I didn't mean to open a can of anything, so hopefully noone will notice.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Actually, I wouldn't mind hearing a few opinions. So pass the popcorn gota911.

POST 13Original post

Having driven both cars I would say that the C4S will be a little more stable and predictable in it's behavior. Plus the wide body does look nice! (and I own a C2) (Tim, put the popcorn down and step away slowly... , we don't need any "blue hell" incidents in this thread)

POST 15Original post

Tim, here's yours.... yeah, I know that this debate has been going on for a long while and to be honest i think the fair answer has something to do with what you're using the car for and how you're looking for it to handle. I've heard that the C4 is not as much fun on the track, but is great for the street. I'd say what I always say in these situations, "not better, not worse, just different." I struggled with the C2 vs. C4 conundrum quite a while before I bought my car. In the end I came down on the side of C2, as I knew that I would never drive the car in Winter and the idea of more 'fun' to drive was appealling. It was interesting to hear you comment about about learning more about handling in the C2. I'm not sure I understand, as I've not yet hit the limits of my car, but could see how that might be the case as you push the car to it's limits on the track.

POST 16Original post

Zoolander, wanna look at a perfect '04 C4S with less than 1900 miles? Unfortunately, not white, not under $50K and not an '02-'03! In other words, your dream car!! You all knew I couldn't resist! Phil

POST 18Original post

it took you longer than I anticipated, but at this point I'm betting that you end up keeping the car.

POST 19Original post

Zoolander. What happened with the one by me? No go?

POST 20Original post

Bet you're right. Maybe if I stopped drooling everytime I'm in my garage, it would be easier....

POST 21Original post

yeah, you've got it bad - just like the rest of us.

POST 22Original post

My new Turbo is coming in April but I can not get myself to sell my beautiful 996 C4S so it will become a keeper. I too got it bad and I love it ! I hope you find one soon. It's a great car , also on the track.

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Gant, I sent you an email regarding the local one and others. I am still very interested in it.

POST 24Original post

funny as thats the same thing im looking for!!!! white, 02/03. under 50k but miles isn't as important to me. ill take anything up to 60k in mileage unless the price is right. i was about to buy a 02 c4s for 35k but someone beat me to it. that was a sad day, but im still looking! price range is under 50k but would like to be in the 40-45k range people PM me please!!

POST 25Original post

Whats it your bottom line, MOST you can/will spend.

POST 26Original post

Ok, here is the deal on the C4S at St. Louis Car Museum. Paint: Excellent Leather: Excellent Wheels: Excellent and are REALLY nice. I discovered that it has an aftermarket exhaust. The salesman had NO idea. It sounds AWESOME!!! It has a tapedeck and cassette holders. I would replace the deck and holders with CD. Can be done on Ebay for around $200 total. Minor scratch near gas tank. Minor paint issue, in the crease on rear driver side, between body panels. Seems like it can be fixed easily Headlight Lenses are worn/faded, yellowing and scuffed. Should be replaced. Engine sounds GREAT! Starts and Idles EXCELLENT!! Front bumper is chipped up, commensurate with age and almost 40k miles on car. A repaint of said bumper will make it like new. Can be done for around $600. Original hood with original sticker. I wasn't allowed to drive the car before you put a deposit down. If you decide to go foward with the purchase, we will know a lot more after I get to drive it. A PPI will be the next step after that, IMO. For the asking price of $49xxx, I think its a great car and the right price.

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Gant. Thanks bro!!!!!!!!! I just emailed you as I didn't know you had posted here too. I was hoping they would let you drive it but if maybe you will soon. I will also be making a post to see what others on the board think of the car and it's asking price with the engine replacement and other mech history. Nice job Gant Lunch or dinner on me when I come to town.
