Is the center air scoop in the front bumper ever used for anything, or is it purely decorative? I’ve got a manual-transmission 2005 Boxster S (i.e., the 3.2L motor) and the center scoop is a dummy with no radiator behind it. Do PDK -equipped cars get a transmission cooler or something?

There is space there for a 3rd radiator. I think it is intended for auto trans cooling but it can be used a for any extra cooling needs (ex track)

Yes PDK cars can have a third engine radiator in there. Mine came that way from new. You can retrofit it. For example… 987 Third Radiator Kit - SKU# R-21087
