Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all, I have b16 's PSS9's fitted to my Cayman , and since fitting them 6 months ago I have had them set to number 7 all round. Do people who run adjustable dampening tend to run the same all round? or is there an advantage for softer/filter front/rear? Cheers Simon

POST 2Original post

Set them firmer and firmer. When your fillings start to fall out, back off a few clicks! More seriously, adjustable dampeners let you tune the car for maximum performance under differing track conditions. One old school way of looking at this was to gradually stiffen up the dampeners until your lap times start to fall off. Then back off a click and use them that way for that track, that race. The next track, next race most likely will require a different set of settings. If you are just doing street driving, and if you have a favorite stretch of road that you enjoy pushing on, you can try and do the same thing. Just be careful, when you get too stiff, the tires will cease to follow the contours/roughness of the road and you will have a very unsettleing "snap" event. It may be just old school me but for public roads, I think being a little on the soft side is a better/safer approach. Also, I'm guessing if it may rain a lot where you live, softer will work better on wet roads. You always hear the F1 teams "soften up" their suspensions for a wet race.

POST 4Original post

Thanks for the advice gentlemen. I’ve set them to number 6 front and rear, and will try adjusting 1click at a time if I don’t feel it’s right.
