When the single-point center lift point is used the bar has a tendency to bow upwards from the weight of the car being lifted at each end.
Leading evidence: 'Use bar has a tendency' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace are what i have' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Brake jobs and oil changes are what I have used them for so far.

I ordered a set about 6 years ago from this person.

Update… Received the bars last weekend put them to use catching up on deferred projects.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

As the title says has anyone ordered from here?

Idea seemed neat so I placed an order almost two months and I keep getting the runaround about parts waiting for coating - he has been responsive to my emails and I’m all for supporting small businesses catering to a niche market but getting the same answer every week is getting annoying.
I ordered a set about 6 years ago from this person. I had prompt service (they showed up within 2 weeks if I recall) from him and he even refunded part of the shipping costs when he found out it was a bit cheaper than he had estimated.
I like the lift bars. I can get the car up in the air in less than 10 minutes. I have some 3Ton jack stands that have a wider base than the typical 1.5T units, so I have more confidence when I get the car higher. I have not had to do anything where i had to remove the plastic under pan parts, the bars may be in the way (but I am not sure). Brake jobs and oil changes are what I have used them for so far.
Bummer about the delay, but my impression is he is a straight shooter (from my one experience).

His website has always said orders are made to purchase, so about 4-6 weeks wait unless he already had some made up and ready to go. I'm assuming its just like everything else post Covid now. No one wants to work any longer, so the coating shops he uses after welding them up may be in a state of perpetual backup due to lack of help like every other industry out there now it seems
He has been around selling these things forever, so I doubt he would ruin his well known reputation by suddenly becoming a slacker. You will get your stuff at some point, but it's likely out of his control just as he stated
I bought a set during Covid and was lucky. He had someone cancel their order so I was able to purchase them without having to wait.

+1 - worth having a set. TBH, I almost like them better than a
quick jack
for certain things (like if you need to remove body panels after you get the car in the air).
The same reason we paint the car. I'm assuming most would rather not have orange rust stains all over their hands and clothes every time they touch them because of being exposed steel
According to the website, you can order them powder-coated, or U-paint for faster delivery/shorter wait times. If I were purchasing, I think I would opt for my own can of Krylon spray paint and my own color choice.
Yeah I chose powder coating since I didn’t want to mess with trying to paint it myself. Also, to update, got the shipping notification and they should be here very soon
Update… Received the bars last weekend put them to use catching up on deferred projects. Makes lifting a breeze without the song and dance of trying to lift opposite corners and car was very stable on jack stands. Overall, I’m satisfied with the purchase and was well worth the wait!
I’m glad you finally received them. I knew you wouldn’t be disappointed once you got them. I’ve had mine for about 2 years now and I love them.

If you zoom in you‘ll see the extra sheet of metal added in the middle to support the jack. They definitely bend when you lift from there but seem to deflect just enough to avoid touching the body
Came back to look again. Are my eyes deceiving me or is there a downward bow in the bar, then a strap welded on top that's more or less straight?
I assume that's so that when the bar bows with weight on it (on a jack), it more or les straightens out.
That's correct. When the single-point center lift point is used the bar has a tendency to bow upwards from the weight of the car being lifted at each end. The designer rightfully put a slight bend in the center (supported with the top strap) to counteract this, so as to not have the bar deflect poorly and contact the chassis. This design also allows the lift bars to be reasonably light weight.
