I've, cleaned off the gunk and it appears to be leaking from the spot I've circled, is that the core plug?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Afternoon all, Just noticed that I have an oil leak, can anybody help pinpoint the cause? Hope all are well in these crazy times! Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

Had an oil leak similar to this which was highlighted during its service 5 years ago. I cleaned up all the old oil off the engine, started it up and watched to see where it was coming from, turned out that one of the bolts was weeping oil, nipped it up a little and it's never leaked since.

POST 3Original post

There are a couple of places that could cause the leak .. My feeling is its the 10mm bolt on the right .. the clean one .. if you remove it and the threads are covered in oil then that's it .. clean the bolt , put engine grade silicone sealant on the threads and refit . It can be the cam cover " gasket " leaking .. thats a cam cover off and again silicone ( loctite 5900) to reseal .. It could also be the core plug there or the small one at the back that need replacing .

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you for your replies. I've, cleaned off the gunk and it appears to be leaking from the spot I've circled, is that the core plug? How easy/tricky is this to fix.

POST 6Original post

I've never seen a problem with these core plug in my time on here and now there are two in the space of a couple of weeks. Looks like something to watch out for when inspecting.
