So I replaced the 3 things, the window switch on the inside, the door latch and the microswitch off the handle.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hoping you guys have the answer for this one. Recently picked up an 07 Cayman S for my Dad. When opening the driver's side door, the window will auto roll down a bit just fine. When closing it though it won't roll back up. Same with the full auto roll up, I have to hold the window switch up the whole time it rolls up to the top. Auto down works fine. So I replaced the 3 things, the window switch on the inside, the door latch and the microswitch off the handle. Still have the same problem. I've tried the whole reset process of holding the button all the way up then down for 10 seconds each. Still doesn't resolve it. The only thing I haven't tried is maybe replacing the fuse? Would this be a fuse issue? Help! Anyone else able to resolve this issue?

POST 2Original post

I'd say the next step is the window regulator. The spring that provides upward tension is probably broken, such that there is enough slack that the small amount the motor moves when closing the door does not apply any force to the window itself. Here you can see how the top one was broken on my car:

POST 3Original post

If the fuse was bad, no window function would work.

POST 4Original post

Ah, ok, did you have this problem with yours as well? And will that fix the auto roll up as well?

POST 5Original post

I have a similar issue (tries to but won't auto-down; does auto-up properly after I push the glass down and close the door). All signs are pointing to window regulator, BUT there's more: From window closed, I crack the window open. If I try to close the window from that position, the window will auto-drop to 50%. At the next "up" button press, nothing happens. One more "up" button press and the window will close properly. This happens from both the driver and passenger window switches. Re-teaching the windows does not work. Disconnecting/resetting the battery will fix this issue for a day or two, but not the auto-down/up issue. If anyone has any ideas, let me know!

POST 6Original post

Cayman or Boxster ? On Boxster the micro switch on the roof locking latch is directly connected to the windows behavior.
