Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, Had an ipod connection fitted the other week in a 996tt, I have the PCM2 with sat Nav etc, and it works great, however since its been done i'm getting vibration/rattle noise from behind the Sat Nav area, I ve tried to get the guy back a few times and he's not playing ball. I'm thinking something just needs tightening or fixing down a bit behind the unit, but how do I get to it??can anyone tell me how I access the rear of the PCM2??? i'm a bit worried about prising things of and snapping or scratching something.. Cheers all Jells

POST 2Original post

Very easy - The switch panels either side of the unit pull off (the ones with heated rear window switch etc), start at the bottom and work up to the top prizing them off. Once off it is obvoius, you will see 4 Torx T20 screws, undo and the whole lot will pull forwards, the rest is obvious. :thumb:

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's great cheers lloyd, will have a go later and snap something....

POST 4Original post

You'll be fine, the ABS plastics used on 996's is like old Golfs... ruddy strong stuff :thumb:

POST 5Original post

If you undo the 4 Torx screws as Lloyd says, the whole plastic mounting cage comes out. However, on PCM2, once you have the horseshoe removed you will see two plastic locks with hexagon sockets on each side. Turn them 1/4 turn (IIRC), and the unit should slide out, leaving the cage in place.
