Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

morning all. So the baby is poorly again 108k miles and in limp mode, on a 1998 tripbox which is ZF 5HP19 HL found in Audis, BMWs etc. Has anyone else has issues with them, seems like not mechanical and could be electrical, going for cheap low cost solution first, Speed solenoid item. Expensive if not, spent 10k up to now over 4 years on tyres, brake pipes, rear exhausts, radiators, so to far in to sell it as stands me at to much, but also if have to get new box looking at a lot of bending over.

POST 2Original post

:welcome: Just a few threads down: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=47156 Sorry to be picky, but you have had the car for four years and not noticed the buttons on the steering wheel say TIP tronic? Personally, I think £10,000 in 4 years including consumables is pretty normal.

POST 3Original post

Hi We've found something as simple as a bad connection on a plug to as serious as a full gearbox & torque convertor re-build. We've also found engine/management problems can lead to the limp home mode. I'd advise you get it plugged into a diagnostic machine to start with to check the fault memories. Grant

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Grant Youll remember my baby well, silver 996 98, u did all radiators and loads of stuff when I fisrt bought it, now live over Pendle way. Its been drained and looks like no mechanical or metal fatigue in the oil, so back to electronics idea. It was struggling to engage from 2 to 3 for a while after gbox oil change and service, seemed to rev high then jump into 3rd...whilst in trip mode, in manual would go through gears smoothly. Cars eh, drive you mad....hope you all doing well over Bolton way

POST 5Original post

Lucky he doesn't have a problem with his stat nav too...

POST 6Original post

For some reason (along with "Zenons") "Triptronic" is one of the most annoying typos!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hahaha, Sat Nav lost the plot a year ago, it thinks its in scotland still, dont tend to use it anyway, as i mainly drive 100 mils back and forward to manchester....

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

doh, yeh Tiptronic.....always saying that.....and not even noticed buttons had words on lol, just flick them up and down.....on autopilot
