Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Just fitted hard top to my C4, first time I have put it on since buying two weeks ago and it makes such a noise with loads of rattles.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just fitted hard top to my C4, first time I have put it on since buying two weeks ago and it makes such a noise with loads of rattles. Can someone please help and give advice, or is this something that I have to put up with.

POST 2Original post

Depends how many rattles TBH - they are not silent that's for sure.....however, it's possible you've either not tightened the bolts enough or over tightened so this might be worth a try..........or some grease type stuff maybe :dont know: Mine used to rattle a little but not a great deal.

POST 3Original post

mine squeaks and groans a lot when going over anything other than dead smooth tarmac so I guess yours is "normal" as well.

POST 4Original post

Silicone lubricant spray along the rubbers where the top meets the body keeps it pretty silent for a few weeks at a time

POST 5Original post

Perhaps I'm lucky, but mine doesn't squeak or rattle at all!
