Suspected cause

I'm not going to be very helpful but had similar fault in previous car and it turned out to be a faulty sensor which was sending 'fault' meassage to management system and telling it to limit the revs to protect the engine - seem to recall it was cheap fix - so you need to get it plug into computer to see what's going on.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello guys, My car is a 996 c4 manual year 99 with new factory engine fitted in 2007. All seems well and drives great , but on a couple of occasions after about 30 mins of driving have experienced complete power loss, engine dies down to tickover as if someone has cut fuel . Looking in history this has happened before and OPC changed the DME module and air mass sensor . Obviously this was not the problem . If I restart the engine all is fine again no warning lights etc . Do you think it may be the DME relay playing up . Power etc all seems good , anyone else had anything similar Touring50

POST 2Original post

Won't be the DME relay: if that is faulty you would get no fuel at all: the engine would completely cut out AFAIK.
