Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

3) As the remote uses a rolling code (new code every lock cycle) if the remote sender has been activated more than 256 times and less than 1024 times with the receiver out of range or while the vehicle battery is disconnected the unit must be resynchronized as follows:
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect unit must be resynchronized as follows' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect unit must be resynchronized as follows' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

If you re-used the transponder pill from the faulty key, then it could be done without the IPAS codes.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I found this instruction (on this site I think) and No 3 did the trick for me:
Does anyone know if you can reprogram a 996 2000 year key? it does not seem to be sync with the the car as the battery had died, although you can still start the car, the red light also flashes. :frustrated:
Yes, take the key with your car, V5 certificate and passport to your nearest OPC and they can re code the key - if the key is faulty you can get them to replace it for around £150

When I picked up my 996 (2004) a few months ago one of my two keys didn't open the car remotely even though it seemed to work in every other respect, IE the LED button lit happilly but nothing happened. I found this instruction (on this site I think) and No 3 did the trick for me:
1) Porsche advise any remote range of 5 ft or less suggests new battery is required.
2) Reset by manually unlocking the car door and whilst the key is still in the door, press the button, lock/unlock button. This re-synchs the electronics if it is time that has caused the car to forget the remote.
3) As the remote uses a rolling code (new code every lock cycle) if the remote sender has been activated more than 256 times and less than 1024 times with the receiver out of range or while the vehicle battery is disconnected the unit must be resynchronized as follows:
- Switch on the ignition (ignition key must have the correct transponder).
- Switch off the ignition.
- Remove the key and press the remote sender button within 6 seconds after the ignition key has been removed
The activation counter will then be reset to zero.

Dont know how they got around the coding part as a specialist can supply key but coding needs to be done at OPC as Porsche will not give anyone else 14 digit reprogramming code which is needed?!
Ah well, I wouldnt go back to a specialist after going to OPC Bristol..... great service and prices much the same (after a bit of a deal) than most specialists.
Interesting.....
So, assuming a remote key is functioning correctly from a wireless (rf) point of view, how much does simply re-programming a good key cost?
Maybe Porscheshop sends someone round to an OPC with the new key and documents? :dont know:
Porsche WILL give the security codes to indies, if they have a letter from the owner, and a copy of the V5C. I got mine that way.
Actually, I don't think you need the Porsche IPAS security codes unless you are programming a new immobiliser transponder pill in the key head. If you are only programming the radio remote, I think you only need the 24-digit bar code on the new key. If you re-used the transponder pill from the faulty key, then it could be done without the IPAS codes.
