Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Early OBDII ports, like the OBDI ports before them, have a 12V square wave tach signal on pin 9. However, my 07 Turbo does not. So at some point Porsche changed what it put on its OBDII port. Does anyone know when this change happened? More broadly, when it happened for Boxsters and Caymans?

POST 2Original post

Walt I believe that when Porsche switched to Can Diagnostic Protocol from K-line the Pin 9 tach lead was dropped. So all 996's and 986 Boxsters have the pin 9 Tach lead. MK-1 987 Boxsters ,Cayman's and MK-1 997's should also have the pin 9 tach lead because the switch to can protocol was made on the MK-2's. If you need this information for a scrutinering issue, I will look further to verify the info on the MK-1 987 Boxsters ,Caymans and 997's . To add all 997 GT2's are Can based
