My car is taking longer than expected, and a 05 cayenne S they use came back on friday.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

While mine car has been at the dealer waiting and now getting the new tranny, I have been driving a few loaners. I started with an 07 A4, which was ok. My car is taking longer than expected, and a 05 cayenne S they use came back on friday. Because of the holiday, I will probably get to keep it through New Years. I just drove it to VT this weekend. I was more impressed withthe car than I vere thought I would be. I was driving through frozen slush/freezing crap friday night and the wheel did not budge or pull at all. The thing feels so solid. It has a nice intake sound as well. This is a loaner with 30K miles!. Anyway, I am anxious to get my 996 back, but thought I would share my experience so far. I would definitely consider buying the Cayenne S. I should probably not drive a TT.
don't want to bust u b@ll...
but with this nice weathe, i was driving around town for my last minute gift with top-down!
how many times can you do drive with open top in xmas eve in north east?
I had a loaner Cayenne the other day as well and wasn't too impressed. Liked the interior et al, but thought the engine was not very powerfull... I did have a base model and not an 'S', but still... nicely equiped the base model is a $55K car... don't think it's worth it.
Just my 2 cents.
My Bro in law leased a Cayenne S and he let me drive it to Las Vegas, very solid car, nice interior, strong engine. The handling is not bad neither. He said that the V6 has no power, so don't bother
Now he plans to keep the S when the lease is over.
Cheers,
I have driven one and thought to my self that 65K for such a small SUV is not worth it. Well my dad bought a V8 Toureg and I borrowed it for a week. You know its basicly a Cayenne without the panache and a little softer suspension. I know can appreciate how well they drive. They handle pretty well, feel very solid on the road, drives like a nice sedan. Would I part with my money for the Cayenne, No. I Probably would get a Toureg like my dad. You can get a great deal on them (my dads was a new 1 MY old he bought for 15K off which was 40K OTD) and they are almost the same driving experience. Personally I get a sport sedan for 60K. If I really wanted an SUV I would get something larger as utility is more important then trying to emulate a sport sedan.
Agreed, I would probably not buy one of these new. They seem to be dropping fast. I would probably buy a new G35x and a Rubicon for the same money. I am not in the market now as my wife is currently driving an 05 sequoia which is more than adequate.
Happy Holidays!!!
I made a test drive with a base Cayenne 6 cylinder and was not impressed at all. I did also drive (in Europe) a Touareg V10 TDI (Diesel engine with approx. 315hp). I was not impressed either - both handle like trucks.
OK being used to BMW 3-series and driving a 996 I can't expect that an SUV handles like a sportscar or sporty sedan; however I found my perfect family SUV (2 small kids) - BMW X3 (3.0i). The car handles like a sedan and X-Drive still fascinates me after almost 2 years of ownership. The only other SUV that is almost equal in handling is the Infiniti FX, but there space is an issue.
