I still own my 2006 987.1CS with 31,000 miles.
It has been stored for 7 years, and for the last couple months I’ve been working through bringing it back to life (fuel system, tires, etc).
The one issue that I cannot resolve (yet) is the Sport Button. It doesn’t illuminate or affect the TPS ratio. The other buttons in the module all work. This car has all options available in 2006 , including ceramic brakes. My
PIWIS III
does not indicate a problem with Sport mode (I have NOT looked using developer mode).
Does anyone know with certainty if simply having a dead TPMS air valve battery could be forcing the PSM to disable the Sport Mode?
Sometimes it’s the simplest thing…
On my 06
Boxster S
I had 2 dead sensors and my Sport button still works. Also when I got the car the TPMS was not active, nor was the
Sport Chrono
even though the "Sport" button worked as it engaged the
PASM
feature for my suspension. Anyway, long story short, the previous owner had an alternator/battery failure, and it seemed to have reset and turned those features off. I went in with my
PIWIS II
and reactivated both features, and they now work. I still need to deal with the 2 TPMS sensors, but it all works. So maybe check to see if it is activated. It may have been turned off.

Hi Neil,
Thanks for your response. From what you experienced, it sounds like a couple dead TPMS valve stem batteries won't disable the Sport Mode, and now that you've mentioned it, I now recall many years ago I had a few valve batteries die, and that did NOT affect my Sport Mode button's functionality.
My skills with my
PIWIS III
are pretty weak, unfortunately. Did you need an "option code" from the dealer for your
PIWIS
to turn Sport back on? Maybe enter the VIN, or use Developer Mode? Any suggestions welcomed. I contacted the original dealer to get codes, may take a couple days.
