Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It's been checked over, and diagnostics turned up with nothing alien.

I'm running a bilateral project on the car, and today was a great opportunity for me to address them.

Think my heart's set on the 7200 (which has been superseded) but is still one of the best looking double-din units out there IMHO.

Ended up having to use clamps to get the remnants of the Assembly-aid out of the wheel.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Whilst removing the wheels from my 996 C4 this afternoon, the 'assembly-aid' and the 'screwdriver' as supplied by Porsche, disintegrated in my hands.
Screwdriver snapped in half, the assembly aid (some abnormal alloy forged in the fires of Mordor by the looks of its cross-section) burst open at the eye.
Speaking of which, I was lucky not to lose my own...
Ended up having to use clamps to get the remnants of the Assembly-aid out of the wheel. The wheel was bearing a frightening resemblance to one of the chariots in Gladiator.
Anyone know how to get replacements of these, and how much they might set one back?
Cheers

Thanks for responses - fantastic!

very much obliged.

lol!
yes, I am a glutton for punishment. What's that old phrase, the devil makes work for idle thumbs...
I'm running a bilateral project on the car, and today was a great opportunity for me to address them.
The Kenwood thing will resolve itself, I'll keep you posted...
Think my heart's set on the 7200 (which has been superseded) but is still one of the best looking double-din units out there IMHO. Quite a screen, and no nasty buttons or crass lights etc.
The wheels were being removed, as I intend getting the rust off the hats, and getting them 'hammerited' for the winter. The rusty hats really do ruin the look of the Carrera alloys.
Didn't expect my tool kit to disintegrate on my during the process, mind you.
Don't know if you caught my other thread, re the roof. This car has done this annoying habit (albiet very intermittently) since I bought it last year. It's been checked over, and diagnostics turned up with nothing alien. Must be a cross-wire somewhere, or else it's key-fob battery related?
Who knows, the thread hasn't attracted any response as yet, so it may indeed be an idiosyncracy of this particular 911.
Hope you're enjoying the self-induced trauma as it unfolds.
And cheers, once again, for the replies. They're bang-on!
Cheers
'the screwdriver handle is part number 111.012.287'
alas, the whole thing snapped in half - looks like a complete replacement?!
you don't have that code to hand, do you?
cheers
The double-ended bit which goes in the handle is 477.012.231 and is £2.11+VAT.
Being a bit ham-fisted too, by the sound of things. Remember it is a screwdriver - not a pry-bar!
The tools in the kit are pretty poor quality. Fine for getting you out of the ***** road-side, but not too good for DIY stuff.
Screwed-driver
Cheers again Richard.
Point taken on 'pry-bar' but I was just following instructions from the manual.
It does suggest you use the screwdriver as a lever.
And to be fair, I was using my hands. I'm hardly Schwarzenegger, and it snapped with a bit of force.
Totally agree on the quality of the kit though. Not great.
I'm as well replacing the whole thing, i reckon.
You've been most helpful.
