Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I bought a Classic Additions semi-fitted cover recently.

The paint on my car is still in perfect condition - properly used the cover is a great idea.

Suggestion
I dont want to have to clean the car every time I put the cover back on (usually on during the week, off at weekends).

Suggestion
As for Wagonface's second point about very slightly dirty - if I've gone for a short drive in Summer I do just replace the cover without washing the car - that's just a matter of judgement and common sense about how much dust is there - and I've had no problems with scratched paint in the last year.

Suggestion
My car is parked on the street and I only use the cover for security to hide the speedlines and the teardrop mirrors (both admired by and stolen by pikeys I am told).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Need a good outdoor one due to major builing work about to commence on my house and not having a garage for the next 6 months.
Car will be parked at the house in the wind rain and blowing dust so it needs to be good. Looked at covercraft and others.
Anyone have any favourites?
Are the Porsche OEM covers indoor or outdoor?
A cover came with my 996TT in a nice Porsche bag but never used it as the car was always garaged. It is silver with the usual logos.
Was about to find out what it was and how much it was worth as I no longer have the 996.
I've recently bought a Cover-Zone 'Stormforce' Car Cover for my 911. This is the top of the line jobbie - four layers, breathable, you can put it on wet, etc, etc. It has elastic around the front & back and is SO EASY to put on and off - much better/easier/quicker than I thought it would be. Cost £166.50 delivered almost next day (£134.09 + VAT & Delivery) from

. Great product - you can't go wrong with this one.
One year on - re the Cover-Zone 'Stormforce' Car Cover for my 911. My car is parked on the drive (I have no garage) and the cover has been brilliant. The important point about a cover is that you cannot put it on a DIRTY car. This is a pain in Winter, as every time you drive down to the shops and back you do need to wash the car befor putting the cover back on. You can put the cover on a WET car - but not a dirty one.
I've just been talking to one of the major independent dealers in London who said they sold a car in immaculate condition which was returned one year later so badly scratched from the cover having been put on an unwashed car that the car needed a respray.
The paint on my car is still in perfect condition - properly used the cover is a great idea.
I bought a Classic Additions semi-fitted cover recently. Good value at c.£90 after I mentioned PCGB membership. Two questions for people:
1) Its 'semi-fitted', so it billows over the windscreen, bonnet and rear wing when its windy. Is this billowing likely to damage the car by rubbing the paint? (assume the car is clean)
2) I know you cant put one on a dirty car, but do you reckon its okay to put one on a car that hasnt got visible dirt, but hasnt just been washed. i.e. in the summer you go for a drive, no dirt on the car but its obviously not spanking clean? (dusty, and probably also has bugs on the front)
Josh
I thought the whole point of the soft lining on the inside of the cover was to prevent that???
Pretty useless having a cover that you can only use when you wash the car
Soft lining or not, if you drag a small piece of dirt / dust along, I'm fairly sure it's still capable of causing some damage.
I only used my cover a couple of times when the car was going to be parked outside for an extended period of time, and had JUST been cleaned. I do agree they make little sense for daily / regular use.
Bum.
My car is parked on the street and I only use the cover for security to hide the speedlines and the teardrop mirrors (both admired by and stolen by pikeys I am told). I realise its not great security, but its a start and what they cant easily see they might not notice. I deffo dont use the cover to keep it clean - my car is 18yrs old and has swirl marks.
I dont want to have to clean the car every time I put the cover back on (usually on during the week, off at weekends).
And I dont want the paint getting massively worse than it is.
Looks like I cant have both. :-(
>>Soft lining or not, if you drag a small piece of dirt / dust along, I'm fairly sure it's still capable of causing some damage.<<
Exactly schwarz993 - any cover will move a bit with the wind - and even 'though the inside of the cover is soft and specifically designed NOT to scratch the car, putting a layer of dust between the cover (which will move in the wind) and the paint, can never be a great idea.
As for Wagonface's second point about very slightly dirty - if I've gone for a short drive in Summer I do just replace the cover without washing the car - that's just a matter of judgement and common sense about how much dust is there - and I've had no problems with scratched paint in the last year. But I have done a bit of DIY plumbing and put an outside tap at the front of the house - and usually the car gets a quick wash (wheels often missed out) if I do decide to put the cover on.
I think I will go with that. My paintwork isnt perfect, but some light swirl marks/scratches that can be polished out would be preferable to having my wheels and teardrops nicked. Lets see how it goes.
