Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi I have a 51 plate Carrera 4 cabriolet (facelift) and am looking at installing a CD multi-changer. Is it the CDC3 for my car? I've just been informed that I can't retro-fit PCM into the car either, which is disappointing. Looks like a dashboard-mounted tomtom unless anyone knows different? Cheers

POST 2Original post

uuf361 (Scott) on here retro-fitted a PCM 2.0 unit to his old 2004 Cab 996. You could try dropping him a PM even though the TomTom units are far more advanced. For the CD player it should be CDC-4. ~ Maxie

POST 3Original post

51 plate car should be CDC 3 If you have a CDR 22 its CDC 3 2003 model year is when Most audio technology was introduced I have a CDC-3 gathering dust in the corner if your looking for one

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks a lot for this information. I believe, Maxie, that the CDC4 and the PCM2 utilise optical cabling. The pre 2003 cars were not fitted with this facility. Hence the inability to retro-fit the PCM, although I can see no reason why PCM1 could not be retro-fitted. From what I've been led to believe, the PCM1 system is not the best. The new (third party) sat navs are far superior, although it would have been good to have the proper system installed, even if just for aesthetics. CDC3 it is then, but if anyone hears of a successful retro-fit of a PCM1 system into a 2001 facelift car, I'd love to hear of it. Cheers.
