Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thanks eric, I just sent my xmas list to my girlfriend and the b&m is #1. the first 3 things on my list (of only 4 things) has bumperplugs link next to them (shifter, bumperettes, silver crest)
Eric,
Thanks for offering this deal!
This is one of the best mods for the dollar! It is the way any sports car should shift. This was the first mod I did and I paid more than $199 several years ago and it was worth it. At $199 is should be a no brainer.
HOLIDAY REMINDER: Order now for holidays and gifts. Or steer your significant other to this special...we'll keep it alive for at least another week or so!
My two cents, this is a great mod and mentioned in most lists of first 3 mods to make. I took advantage of the special the last go around and I like it. I really like the tight shift and snick snick gear changes. It is also a pretty easy DIY install. It took me about 4 leisurely hours because I checked and rechecked and checked again the instructions and the posts on this forum. If you are on the fence, it's a great price and a fun mod.
Hi Eric. I have white 01 996 with savanna beige (got the plugs and my bumberettes painted by you - came out great!). What color would you suggest for the rear console? Thanks, Dennis
I am thinking of the getting the "greatest mod" in the history of Porsche...but to be honest I am NO DIYer...
I am afraid of buying it and not knowing how to install it...=(
Then I have to take it into a shop and get raped...sigh...
EDIT - anyone interested in volunteering in So Cal that can install this for a newbie? Maybe we can get a group install set up? I can buy lunch/dinner or something?
Thanks Eric. Two questions: 1) price on the rear console 2) Do you need the aluminum shifter linkage with the B&M short shifter or will it still work with the OEM linkage? Thanks again, Dennis
Rear Center Console painted from the factory: $730.
Rear Center Console painted from BumperPlugs.com, normal price: $499
Rear Center Console painted from BumperPlugs.com, SPECIAL sale price: $399 w/core swap (we send you the new one first, then you send the old one back).
Shifter works fine with either the stock or EVO shift link. EVO shift link is more peace of mind. Very solid.
AI - it is NOT difficult at all. It took me 2.5 - 3 hours but I really took my time. Prior to the B&M SSK install, I had NEVER done anything like this to any of my cars. Now that I have done it once, I could install it in 2 hours or less. Do it yourself, it will make you enjoy it even more!
Sent the "request" to my wife for the B&M Short shifter..... Still debating the white rear console. Not sure if I like the look just yet.. Do you have any more photos of that boxters interior since mine is identical.. I like some of the other mods in it as well and would like to see... Thanks Eric! Dennis
No, the SSK ( short shift kit ) doesn't include the "horse shoe." It goes under your **** and boot, it's a mod you can feel, not so much see.
B&M on the left Stock on the right ( sorry it's so out of focus ).
OK I just did it...I bought the B&M kit...
I figured this is one of those MUST MODs...soooo...
I also found a local shop for the install...I will report once it is installed.
Thanks for all the dang peer pressure guys...thanks alot....
You guys are a bad influence I tells ya!
short shifter here I come!! yippee!!
Oh man, don't pay someone to install it! Can you use a screwdriver? If so, then YOU can do the install! It is really NOT that difficult. Half of the time involved is removing/replacing the rear center console. The hardest part of the whole process is removing the shift **** from the stock shifter. Once that is off, everything is pretty easy.
Those are the exact things I will get wrong or mess up...I know I wont be able to remove the shifter..or I will scratch my painted center console...etc etc. I know I am lame...I just cant do those things. My brain isnt wired like that. I do some basic stuff...and I used to be more brave when I was younger. But...looking at the PDF step by step pics..I know I cant do it...=(
If you don't mind sharing, how much are they going to charge you for the install? My kit is sitting in my garage and might be there for some time yet the way work is going.
You weren't able to do it the second you said "I can't"
This really not rocket science and there are several guys here to help out. But if you want to pay somebody a couple hundred bucks in labor for something you could do yourself and save some cash then go ahead.
Just know, we are here to help.
