This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all I've got a 53 plate C4S with knackered front discs. While I'm in the mood for changing them, I thought I'd get new pads all round. In your opinion(s), what is the best disc and pad combination for normal road use and where is the best/cheapest place to buy them? I'm currently looking at £500 parts/labour from a local Porsche specialist for genuine manufacturer parts. Cheers Andy

POST 2Original post

I replaced front and rear discs and pads some months ago, Marque 21 were the best price at the time although Design911/Eurocarparts were all in there and worth a call. Opinion on here is that you replace the shims as well, wear sensors depending on how heavy handed you are removing the old ones. Textar look to lead the way for pads, same pad as Porsche but don't have the part number. Far more choice hear, EBC, Mintex, Pagid etc but you take a chance they may squeal or produce lots of dust. There are a limited number of disc manufacturers, ATE, Sebro and Zimmerman. All reportedly good quality, I went for the Sebro as the middle was painted and wouldn't show the rust. Not sure if the ATE or Zimmerman have this, hopefully someone else can confirm.

POST 3Original post

Textar and Sebro would get my vote as OEM suppliers.

POST 4Original post

The best Price I received for my front discs and pads with all the associated items was from JZM. There isn't much wrong with the OEM stuff in my opinion. Sorry for saying this yet again, but it's amazing how many Porsche owners a falling foul of the new warranty rules. If you have an official Porsche warranty make sure you get official Porsche parts or they will invalidate it even if the parts fitted are not covered under the warranty anyway! Don't ask!
