Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced my tank last week after my attempt to fix the crack with repair putty didn't hold.
Leading evidence: 'Replace tank last week' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Took me 2 hours to part drain, disconnect pipes, remove fuel filter (only on C4) and remove tank, replace and put back together.

I had a coolant leak on my 996 2 months ago and had the water pump replaced (also worth getting drive belt changed at the same time if it is the pump as they will have easy acces to this at the same time therefore not really any extra labour cost) I think it cost me a around £350ish at a specialist.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have been informed that the coolant leak is coming from my my header tank, it would appear to be a common fault, any ideas on cost to repair.

I replaced my tank last week after my attempt to fix the crack with repair putty didn't hold. Got tank from design911 about £175 i think. Took me 2 hours to part drain, disconnect pipes, remove fuel filter (only on C4) and remove tank, replace and put back together. Not difficult but not a lot of room, so fiddly. There's a good diy on renntech but if you're paying someone, I can't believe a pro would need more than 2 hours as i didn't and i'm no pro! 8)
I nursed a leaking tank for around nine months, and as it got worse you could see a White residue forming on the exhaust below the tank from the leaking coolant. So maybe have a look down there.
I paid £150 +vat from my London indie and all is well.cap sensor and overflow pipe were all ok from the original tank.
Hope that helps
m :bye:
just had a similar experience, drove my car 20 miles parked up, came back 20 mins later and small pool of coolant on ground,
was a bit paniced so drove to Jaz in wembley my closest indie, they diagnosed a split tank (on the baulkhead side so not visable)
they booked me in and was done the next day for £436
i did have them fix the seal on the windscreen at the same time so would have been around £320 all in without this
that was new tank ,lid, sensor, colant and labour, vat
have to say the service was brilliant given i turned up out of the blue and was the first time they had sen the car
i will be using them agian
