Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A few weeks back I wrote that I had my expansion tank out due to a leak and attempted to mend it by using some polypropylene tank repair putty. I felt I'd done a good job but when back to full temperature and pressure it started to leak again. Today I've had it out again and replaced with a nice new white one. The new tank has 3 new extra supporting fins at the internal right angle right where mine had the small crack. Clearly Porsche had found that this was a weak spot and have attempted a remedy. Had the usual tussle to get the old tank out but managed it far quicker than the first time. The new tank slipped in fairly easily, I'm not sure if they've made it a few mm smaller to give it some more space but the temp sensor has definitely come forward by about 5mm and I swear the whole tank must be 5 mm less in height as I had a real fight last time with the temp sensor getting in the way of a pipe clamp and this time it went in no trouble. So all done and back together in under 2 hours. Now, wonder what will go wrong next..........!

did it come with a new blue cap as they are also prone to fail from time to time? - Simon

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

nope, but i'd already bought one last month. It just came with the black vacuum top on it, not even a new overflow drain hose! Got it from Design911, who seem to be the best value and supplied this order without any problems this time.
