Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I filled the hole with left over soft foam material (using a screwdriver to push the foam in and filling about 80%) to give it the "original shape" with some cushion / room to flex:

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

As I was about to purchase the mounting kit to fix the infamous wind deflector rattle after a few unsuccessful attempts to fix, the driver side rubber piece came loose (luckily, into the cabin). Thinking I have nothing to loose, I tried to "fix it" in 5 min: 1. As you may know, the inside is hallow (and it deforms over time) 2. I filled the hole with left over soft foam material (using a screwdriver to push the foam in and filling about 80%) to give it the "original shape" with some cushion / room to flex: 3. Just to ensure the foam fillings do not come out in the future, I appiled some leftover Shoe Goo (which also have some flex): 4. Then applied some Gorilla Glue to glue it back together (and "sliding in" the rubber piece into the bracket) 5. Now that I was able to do this (on the driver side) in 5 mins, I proceeded to do the passenger side by "carefully" removing the rubber piece with a tweezer - I was ready to apply a heat gun or a hairdryer but was not needed (just need to be "slow / careful") Sensitive content, not recommended for those under 18 Show Content 6. Then repeated steps #2 through 4 above. Not an "elegant" solution but hope this lasts more than a few weeks. And the picture of the completed work - after I glued, I put the wind deflector on to "shape" the rubber piece like the original and to ensure tight bonding between the rubber piece and the bracket. Hope this can last more than a few weeks but worst case, I will just buy a new mounting kit next year after the winter here in NJ (and my "hardtop" season begins )
