Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

GUys, just fitted the hardtop to my 996 C4 Cab today and the heated rear screen does not appear to be working. Anybody know how it gets its power and what i should check. The hardtop on my previous boxster had a plug in connector but no such tool on the 996. Any ideas??

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Gents, i know i already started this thread, but does anyone know where i should start looking? The light on the heated screen switch activates fine and goes off after appx 9mins, which is normal. I just cannot see where the hard top rear screen gets its power from. All help greatfully received.

POST 3Original post

The rear window on the hardtop gets its power from a circuit that surrounds the left mounting stud in the rear. Take a look at the hardtop when not mounted on the car and you will see the contacts. If they are undisturbed, take a look inside the fuse box to ensure that good power is uninterrupted there.

POST 4Original post

I believe that the defroster gets its power from the two posts used to mount the hard top at the rear of the car (the ones you lock down with the special tool). Perhaps you have a bad connection to the locks?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks guys. Will pull lid off at weekend and take a look.
