Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I just change the connector on the ctek and plug it in.

I can then connect the charger without opening the bonnet and I then just tuck it out of sight when using the car and replace the waterproof cover.

If you have any doubts pop a mobile phone charger into the socket with the ignition off, if the little light comes on then your ok to use a Ctek or Porsche chargomat

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know, should use it more but hey ho.. Anyway, Ctek charger connected and gone green so sorted.
However, the question is can the battery be charged through the cigarette lighter. And what do people think of fitting a plug say in or near the front grills. I have one on my R100RT motorbike which has a weather proof connection. I just change the connector on the ctek and plug it in.
Wouldn't it be great not to have to open the bonnet or stick a lead through a window.
If it's possible, for those who have removed front bumpers, where would be the best please to put it. The ideal place would be under the petrol flat but petrol and electrics.. hummmm bit iffy.
We need a manufacturer to make a swivle badge (a la mondeo) which hides a plug.
Oh, 2004 C4S.
I had the same problem, such a faff to open the bonnet every time and leave it open. The ciggarette lighter you would have to chenge to constant live as it is only ignition fed.
I now have the CTEK connector slotted in the gap under the bonnet at the bottom of the windscreen, just below the wipers.
I can then connect the charger without opening the bonnet and I then just tuck it out of sight when using the car and replace the waterproof cover.
All water cooled Porsche 's can be charged via the cigarette lighter,

Thanks for the replies.
I take it there would be no problem permanently fixing the wires to the battery. If thats the case I'll go for the wires on the battery and plug near the wipers option.
No more opening the bonnet would be a dream.....
I have had no problem with it at all as they will not draw any charge and have a sealed connector at the end.
It has certainly reduced the time turning the car around no end :thumb:
Hi Chauch,
Did you use the standard CTEK hard wire connector. I was concerned that the end connector was not really weather proof, and rain would get in to the connector and short out the battery.
Thinking about it perhaps we should put a fuse in line with the connector ?
Regards
Dave
This is getting better..
neil_c, just to confirm the leads from accumate have the same fittings as ctek. Are they more 'robust' than the ctek, the cover on my ctek lead seems to come off rather easily.
Looking at the pictures it definately looks waterproof and up to the job. Are the actual leads long enough to fix to the terminals and then appear from under the bonnet by the wipers somewhere. Oh and what size eyelets would I want, thats if they do different sizes.
Thanks in advance.
Because the CTEK connector fits quite tightly in the gap under the bonnet, you can turn it round so the back is facing up, so even if it gets wet, it will only be the rear casing...
I have been reading this thread with great interest as I need to garage the porker for a few weeks, sudden nerves relating to the first start!
Which CTEK model do you guys use, they seem to produce a plethora of models.
Any help gratefully received
