Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yesterday, I took the plunge and joined the "big boys" and traded in my cherished 1985 944 turbo which I have had for the last 10 years, for a Silver 1999, 996 C4 with a full GT3 bodykit and £5,500 worth of interior carbon fibre! So far, with 150 more miles on the clock since I bought it, I have not been disappointed...it just feels as though my last 10 years driving has been wasted but we all have to start somewhere!! Whilst doing my "bonding" bit with my new treasure today (mandatory cleaning and polishing) I have come across and small wire loom hanging behind the front spolier on the driver's side...looks as though it's some kind of sensor connected by a couple of wires. Can anybody shed any light?? Apart from running the battery flat whilst having the doors, boot and bonnet open with music blaring whilst attending to my chores (had to wait until wifey got home to give me a jump start...how embarrassing!!) I can't wait to get out on the road again tomorrow and get those heads turning!!!!

POST 2Original post

Is it the outside air temperature sensor? Ignore the grilles - they aren't standard.

POST 3Original post

Welcome to the forum, if the highlighted picture Richard has posted is the same item you're referring to, I also agree it's the outside air temperature probe. I also have a 944 (albeit not a turbo) and owned it for the last 18 years, I think they're great cars. Enjoy your Carrera :thumb:

POST 5Original post

This sounds very much like Wattie's old car. Was the mileage north of 100k :?: Any long blonde hairs behind the back seat :?:
