Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was inspired by oreganet in an earlier post, where he said some great things about how great his car looks, and how great it sounds, but he didn't want to drive it on this beautiful day because he'd have to wash it again. Since we're a four car family, I have to make a choice every time I go to the driveway on which car gets driven, and here's my top three reasons I DON'T drive the C4S: 1. Too many cars parked in front of the garage. This is probably the worst. If I lived in Texas, I'd have a 5 car garage and all would be well, but here in So Cal, I'm stuck with 1 car - and guess what gets parked in there? 2. Car is TOO DIRTY. Anyone with a black Porsche knows how much work it is to keep it looking tight, and mine gets pretty ratty sometimes. I may decide that I would be disrespecting Porsche owners everywhere if I take it out in that condition. 3. Home Depot Runs. Now, if it's something small, say a lightbulb or a can of paint, I'm all over it. If it's a new ladder or 12 feet of PVC, I'll drive something else. It should be noted that I never DON'T drive the C4S because of weather (it's a hoot in the rain), and I jam my kids in there however necessary.

POST 2Original post

I think the only way I don't take mine out is if five or more people want to ride in the same car. Rain, Shine, Snow, whatever, I drive it. I don't believe in garage queens.

POST 3Original post

Because sometimes riding a bicycle or a skateboard just seems like a good idea? Otherwise I drive my 996 everywhere, even to the snow if need be.

POST 4Original post

Nice day gets the GT3 unless it is SO FRICKIN NICE that I am forced to go topless in the CAB! Other than that, Cayenne gets used for trips to Lowe's, Bad Weather, and driving to and from the college since I would prefer none of my students to see me rollin' in a GT3

POST 5Original post

Cause I end up getting hit on by really hott girls. Sick of all the meaningless sex the P gets me.

POST 6Original post

Beause my car and I live in the city, where the streets are crowded with inch-along rush hour types, potholes and pedestrians, and there's not enough time after work to get far enough out of the city to open it up before I need to be home with the family.

POST 7Original post

i don't drive my cab when more then one other person wants to come along..... i am a slefish driver and i hate to have more then myself and one other passenger........ a third is going to offset my car, and the 4th is just going to slow my car down.......it's either me or one other....oh,.... i drive in rain sleet snow tsunami thunderstorm and gorgegous days.....

POST 8Original post

If I have to park it in a place where I can't see it or it may get dinged. I also don't drive in any bad (or potentially bad) weather. With the "slicks" I have on it really is a safety thing. Also if my wife wants to go...she will NOT go in the P-car?

POST 9Original post

Hail the size of golf *****, but thankfully I don't live in Florida anymore (where it happened about once every year or two).

POST 10Original post

Real reasons for not taking out the Porsche: i) >30% chance of rain (unless it's getting towards the end of the driving season and the car is already dirty) ii) need to give > 1 person a ride somewhere iii) need to go somewhere the car might get dinged.

POST 11Original post

I think these are two really good reasons for me not drive my P . Texas can be very unforgiving (pickup trucks and bad weather).

POST 12Original post

You're asking the wrong guy. Last time I weighed in on this, I got more than 100 replies and more than 1000 hits to the thread!

POST 13Original post

Awwww! Come on Phil, join in the fun... you know you can do it!

POST 15Original post

If I drove my 996 to work, you would probably see the video on CNN and it would involve a police helicoptor. I think I will take the Boxster instead.

POST 16Original post

1-going to a party and I plan on having more than 1 drink = Wife is designated Volvo driver. 2-need room for 4+ people and luggage 3-big shopping at Costco 4-garden supplies 5-bringing snow tires for the Porsche to be mounted on spare wheels 6-anytime where valet parking is going to be the only option Besides that, I look for every excuse possible to drive it as much as possible!

POST 17Original post

Well, I'm not sure most would differentiate the GT3 from another 911. That being said, I have thought about and decided against driving the 911 when I go to campus to do my college recruiting trips... much as I would love the 300+ mile drive I think that having me roll up in the p-car would create the wrong impression about working for my company. I refuse to hire anyone who wants to work for us on the basis that we might pay well enough to own a Porsche. ..besides parking on campus (and the hotel) would just cause me nightmares with regard to dinged doors.

POST 18Original post

1. Weather is bad and I don't want it to get dirty. 2. It's cold outside and I don't want to listen to the Sport Pads squeeling badly. 3. There is water on the ground and I still have my race wheels with MPSCs on the car. 4. That 50" Plasma won't fit in it. 5. Have to take more than 1 co-worker out to lunch.

POST 19Original post

> ii) need to give > 1 person a ride somewhere Oh come on! Do you know how many drunks I can fit in my 911? I'll give you a hint: it's at least three! (Lest you think poorly of me, it's actually exactly three)

POST 21Original post

Wow! Great minds think alike! Exactly my reasons as well. The other reason is of course, if I need the pickup to haul stuff.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I forgot about the wife. She hates going out in the pcar because a) it's too bumpy, b) we're too low, c) she's convinced we're going to get carjacked, d) I drive too fast in it, e) I'm thinking about the car instead of making thoughtful conversation with her. I tried to win her over with the heated seats, but it's not enough...

POST 23Original post

when I am too lazy tooooo push the button to open the garage door.......walk around my P and get in...I just take my wifes car (she thinks it is!! and never wondered why she got the sport package!! which made the X5 an bumpier ride).

POST 24Original post

1) Traffic in Los Angeles. I travel some of the cities worst and most congested. Taking over an hour to go 19 miles and rarely getting past 2nd gear drives me nuts. 2) Sometimes because I'm either late or lazy. Our 2 stall garage houses the Porsche and then a fridge, bikes, strollers, and piles of crap that get replaced by new crap whenever we empty the garage. I have to put two cars in the street to get the Porsche out (we are not allowed to park overnight on the streets where I live).

POST 25Original post

If the weather is really nice, I take the Carrera cab out. If it is crummy weather, I usually drive my 540i. If I'm out on a date, I take the 996.

POST 26Original post

I always take the C4S unless I need the carrying capacity. Then I take my wife's Audi. That means I take the Porsche despite bad weather (including snow), unpleasant destinations like Philly, and the length of the trip. When I bought the Porsche, it was partially an experiment: can I buy the "everyday supercar" and use it every day? So far, so good.

POST 27Original post

Hey, watch that Philly stuff - them's my peeps!

POST 28Original post

The same people that Boo'd and Assualted Santa Clause?

POST 30Original post

Yeah, never go to an Eagles game as an away fan - Eagles fans are not very nice.

POST 31Original post

Scum of the earth they are. See you next Monday night

POST 32Original post

Well, I'm glad to see that we're all on the same wavelength on this. During driving season I check the weather each morning before making the decision which car to drive. I check three different websites (weather.com, accuweather.com and weatherbug.com) and have to see <30% chance of rain from each. People at work know that if the p-car shows up in the parking lot, then we're in for a nice day - I've become the site meteorologist.

POST 33Original post

Hey remember, I'm a pats fan, I'm no more welcome down there than you. I remember stories of a game last season when a father and his 10 year old daughter came her from Green Bay in their full outfit - they got taunted and tortured all through the game. The behaviour was disgusting. Sadly, this example was not unque. Oakland is probably the only other sadium where the fans behave so badly.

POST 34Original post

Damn, totally forgot (once again) that you are a Pats fan Well, from a Cowboys fan (and a fan of the Pats) please accept my apologies directed at you I do NOT apologize to the Eagles fans

POST 35Original post

I've gotta admit that I'm still hoping that Dallas does well this year. Getting rid of the lead weight that is Drew Bledso is the best move that any team can make. He kills the performance of any team that he's on.

POST 36Original post

Totally agree. I think he just tried to find ways each week to **** us off!

POST 37Original post

My bet is on Dallas beating Philly. I was soooo pleased when Dallas beat Indianapolis.... if ever a team needed a chip knocking of it's shoulder, that was it. As for Bledsoe, he never takes responsibility. His post-game press conferences in New England used to drive me nuts... "eeerrrr, well, I guess we just didn't pull things together well enough to win this week." He would say the same thing each week. When we dumped him we finally started winning. Hmm, sending him to Buffalo and having him hobble their play was a really tough decision <sarcasm>.

POST 38Original post

Nice take! .....sorry for the thread highjack.....and now back to our regularly scheduled programming

POST 39Original post

Reasons I don't drive it: 1. Like Nutbeam said, too many cars infront of the garage 2. When I play ice hockey (won't fit by goalie bag) 3. When I have to go on an appt for work. Can't show up to meet the prospective tenant in a p-car. I take the S4 and every thinks it an A4. 4. If I'm going to sit in bumper to bumper traffic, or not going to be parked in a great area. Don't want shopping carts hitting my car, etc. 5. Not a safe area to park (ex: the mall). 6. If I need to fit adults in the back seat. (My 2yr old fits just fine). 7. Snow or salt on the roads. 8. pot holes, drive through highways under construction (don't want to scratch the p-car). 9. Stadiums. Won't take it to Yankee Stadium or Giants Stadium (I have Jets tickets)

POST 40Original post

1- My lower back hurts. 2- will have to park vehicule in grim part of town. 3- Going to meet a client. 4- My wife wants to drive it and I'm in the doghouse. 5- Need to bring the dogs somewhere.

POST 41Original post

Only two reasons I don't drive it... Questionable weather or Questionable parking

POST 43Original post

Reasons I don't drive it? Its hard to fit in the 1/12 scale model

POST 44 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I noticed a few of the "not to see a client" excuses - I've got a delimma coming up, one of our clients is flying in from back east, and I'm taking him to dinner - P-car or Expedition? I only have these about two or three times a year, but it would be nice to have the 540i back for times such as this. About 70% of me says just go with the p-car, but 30% of me knows he's a conservative midwest type that gives our company a couple of million dollars a year in orders. Grim choice indeed.

POST 45Original post

Take the Expedition - I've had a client say "oh, we're obviously paying you too much" when they see the Porsche. Trying to explain that I bought it for 40 something grand, which was probably less than his SUV, didn't seem to matter.

POST 46Original post

If you are concerned your "product" is not worth the money they pay for it, I would drive the Ford. If you are confident your "product" is fantastic and worth it...the p-car. Oops...hijacked again...sorry...back to your regular programming.

POST 47Original post

Definitely the Ford. Once you get to know a client you can better tell how they'll react to the P car. Even though with my business it's a no brainer that I have money, I never rub it in their faces. An Escalade is the sign of sucess. A Porsche is the sign of excess. Obviously, I don't agree with this, but a lot of people do. Until you know a client better, it's best not to take chances. Good luck! TW

POST 48Original post

People are weird when it comes to Porsches. The price you paid is irrelevant. They see it as something mythical and unattainable, therefore if you have one, then obviously you're being paid too much. Perception is reality, even when it's not.

POST 50Original post

Top reason I don't drive the 996...I am sleeping

POST 51 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, you could sleep IN it, I suppose... And if there's another more vocal statement of excess than an Escalade, I don't know what it is.

POST 52Original post

Can't find a way to drive it without an engine in it. Any suggestions? My wife says "it's a dog", (NOT TRUE!!!), so maybe I should put a leash on it and pull it around the block for a walk.
