Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

Stock, my 996 lacked the drama I wanted (its not a daily driver, so I can live with a less civilised volume), so I changed the exhaust (still might fit an X-pipe).

Suggestion

I do know the 996 targa is top heavy and moves around more than a fixed roof coupe, you will never get a targa down to 1100kg unless you use plexiglass and remove the whole roof and hatch system.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 2Original post

Tits on a bull for performance. heat soak and less pull good for sound. porsche shop eh....I hope you do receive it as lots of people have had issues with them selling stock they dont have.

POST 4Original post

There has been a few posts on these and the plenum mods recently - someone posted a link to a really informative youtube video, where someone tested these on a rolling road.....definitely worth a watch. Suggests no performance gains. However others have suggested it may yield benefits, if coupled with other mods, as with everything, its about getting the right bits together and then getting them to work in harmony. I have a K&N kit on mine and will freely admit its for the noise. Part of driving enjoyment is listening to an amazing engine. Stock, my 996 lacked the drama I wanted (its not a daily driver, so I can live with a less civilised volume), so I changed the exhaust (still might fit an X-pipe). It still didnt quite do it for me.... However the induction kit has really improved things (am happy to trade a couple of HP for this).... Good luck with your project.

POST 5Original post

£500 which is normal price I think. Guessing it was cheaper before. I agree King. I couldn't be without that induction scream. Plus let's not forget the Ram air effect once moving, which rolling roads can't replicate with an electric fan. I'm pretty sure that cancels out any losses.... and if it doesn't, big deal.

POST 6Original post

I thought you have a Targa i.e. a Carrera? that inlet only fits GT3 types...

POST 7Original post

Cold air is better for power, this will be pulling in hot air all the time

POST 8Original post

I have the fabspeed version on mine And I certainly didn't buy it thinking I was going to be getting the claimed horse power benefits But as above I wanted more noise and it certainly helped with that :thumb: And while I don't exactly have the lid open to be able to see it that often it does look a bit more sexy 8) at least in my opinion anyway

POST 9Original post

As peterg1955 said above :?: NOTE; Only Fits GT3 & GT3 RS & GT3 Cup Models 3.6, 3.8 & 4.0 ( Dose Not fit Carrera or Turbo based Models )

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Running GT2 82mm tb!! This is but one of series of mods. My post was about a decent offer in my opinion and with respect not seeking advice from those who probably know a lot less than I about upgrading and tuning. I am a newbie on here, and new to tuning water cooled Porsches. I am struck by the fact that most of my technical queries posted to date get zero replies..I do pretty comprehensive research and when I fail to get the answer, I post on this and other forums....with Rennlist probably edging it. they have a much bigger number of users doing some level of trackwork etc in the USA<

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quite simply wrong on at least two levels...as you are ignorant of my full car layout and spec, your comment is a less than useless contribution. I will leave it at that.

POST 13Original post

waste of money. take more weight out of the car which sounds like you are doing. good luck anyways and interested to see what the total package of mods makes if anything at all.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

more twaddle..weigh of car makes no difference on a dynamometer!

POST 15Original post

:x Which two levels, :dont know: It's known the engine bay on a 996 gets very hot, a plastic shield doesn't stop the extreme heat getting to those filters. It would be like putting a metal separator in an oven and expect different temps at boths sides, when the separator has gaping holes in it. Where does the cold air come from? I do know the 996 targa is top heavy and moves around more than a fixed roof coupe, you will never get a targa down to 1100kg unless you use plexiglass and remove the whole roof and hatch system.
