Hi All,
So I have a quick question. I already wired my aftermarket HU to my 2005. Per Loi's directions, I tapped into C6 since it's not used. My problem is that I now need another switched fuse for my backup camera I have installed. I know that C5 is switched as well. But with C6 in use, that isn't an option. I tried a bunch of slots that I would think should be switched, but they seem to have power even with the car off. Which puzzled me. But I read somewhere this could have to do with the MOST system? Mainly I was looking at fuses for options I don't have like tiptronic or phone, etc. such as B9 (CU telephone/ switch lifting tiptronic), D3 (control unit tiptronic), and D9 (CD changer,
PCM
2.1, telephone, etc). I was wondering if anyone has a fuse layout for the 2005 that lists out locations that might be switched. Or maybe through your own projects you found others? Or are C5 and C6 the only options? Also, there are a number of slots labeled as not used. They don't have an amp value. I was wondering if those are options or to be avoided? Thanks.
I tapped into the same red wire that powers my headunit. I forgot which fuse position I used. I think B9. I removed the cowling and carpet, then tapped close to the panel. The camera draws so little power, there's no reason you need a separate fuse for it. Yeah, if you do get a short it'll blow the fuse and take out both - but the chances are slim and it can easily be undone it needed.
Thanks for the response. Interesting that your B9 is indeed switched. I assumed it would be as well. But for some reason, mine had power even with the car off. Hmm. I would tap into the same one as my HU, but I am also thinking of doing some interior
LED
strips (my footwell on the driver side just does not work no matter what I have tried). So I was looking for another switched to use for both the cam and the
LEDs
. I didn't want to put all of that on the single fuse where my HU is as well.
Yes, I just checked. I used B9 (note 'A' is the top complete row of fuses). My car is a 987.2, but I don't think it matters.
I'm also using the same fuse (C6) for head unit and camera and no issues so far. My backup was to use B9.
