Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi. I have a 1999 C2 996. I never realised the center console box lid was supposed to spring open by itself when the button was pushed. I've always lifted it open ever since owning the car (6yrs). Found a video online of a hinge repair kit you can purchase which got me thinking maybe something needs fixing on mine to make it spring open. Took the screws off the lid today and found the hinge is in fine condition. However there is no spring at all. There isn't even any marks on the plastic to indicate it ever had one there in the first place. Image attached of the spring I found on another forum post. Does anyone else have the same? I'd like to fit a spring if one is available. I've checked all the usual Porsche part websites but can only find the hinge repair kit which doesn't come with the spring. Thanks .[/img]
