Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Okay, maybe I'm missing something incredibly obvious. Because I'm looking to install an aftermarket radio in my 07 Cayman, when I saw this radio adapter on eBay I thought about ordering it. But I noticed the seller said it only fit in a Boxster. Knowing that item descriptions on eBay are notorious for being flawed, I emailed the seller to confirm fitment. He responded and confirmed the adapter will not work on my Cayman. I've never seen an audio adapter plate that fit a Boxster not fit a Cayman from the same year. What am I missing? Here's the link: Porsche 987 997 Aftermarket Double Din Dash Kit Installation Wiring Harness | eBay

POST 2Original post

Seller probably doesn't know that a Cayman is a 987 as well. Probably thinking Cayenne. If it fits 987 and 997, it fits your Cayman.

POST 3Original post

It'll fit, it looks exactly like the MOST HUR kit that I just installed, minus about a million connectors. Do you have Bose?

POST 4Original post

It will fit, i bought one to use it on my 06 Cayman but then i installed iPad mini, there are 2 types of wiring harness one for cars with Bose system and one for None Bose, if you dont have Bose system in your car you can use this Harness and its $24.99. Porsche Boxster Aftermarket Radio Installation Wiring Harness Antenna Adapter | eBay I do have the Double din kit. If you want you can have it for Free you only need the harness.

POST 5Original post

Assuming you don't have Bose, you'll need three things, and you can save some money by getting them on Amazon (or for a bit more on Ebay) instead of that kit. The plastic fascia is this, and about $20: American International POR911S (or if you want a black part instead of the regular silver that matches the rest of the car, POR911B) The wiring harness is this, and under $5: Metra 70-1784 The antenna adapter is this, and under $5: Metra 40-EU10 Antenna Adapter The metra bits will say they're for Audis/VW but they fit. As it looks like you're doing a self install, be sure to check, double check and triple check the CDR-24 manual pinouts and make sure that the connections in the car line up right with where you're connecting things in the harness. Edit: Forgot to add that you'll need two additional bits: A fuse tap accessory addition. I pulled a fuse and brought it to a local auto store and picked one up for maybe $3. It came with the wire I needed to connect the radio to a switched 12v source. Should be on Amazon as well. Some extra wire. You'll need three pieces, one for +12v switched, one for a connection for detecting if your headlights are on and one for the parking brake line.

POST 7Original post

Help a new owner here real quick: If I buy this harness and then buy a double din stereo with nav and satellite radio I can install it all and not worry about changing out the Bose amp and speakers. I have an 08 Cayman S with the CDR24 bose setup.

POST 8Original post

You need the MOST HUR harness to make the bose equipment work. Here's the link to the ebay store of the manufacturer Euro Motorspeed | eBay Stores

POST 10Original post

You got it, definitely search the forums for help on installation.

POST 11Original post

I've found a number of helpful posts about installation. This forum has been very helpful. I was having trouble deciding between the Dension options vs an aftermarket head unit. Having to buy a 750 dollar harness thingy put the kaibosh on the aftermarket with Bose amp option. Dension it is! Lol Thanks guys.
