Hi All,
I am planning to get a kenwood FM modulator from crutchfiled that i was told can be plugged into a factory-installed car stereo by using its FM antenna input(basically removing the windhshield antennae wire to give way to this kenwood unit).
im not big on sound quality as long as i can access my ipod's nano's mp3 or video files and sound them off via CDR24 speakers, im contented.
anybody who can confirm that this is doable ?
appreciate any help.
You'll need an antenna adapter as the porsche antenna is not the standard motorola-type connection.

Crutchfield also sells this adapter but it costs double because you have to buy two pieces separately (40EU10 and 40EU20) versus both combined in part # 40EU30
Hi, that's the exact setup that I have in my Boxster. The sound quality is good, and I haven't had any interference problems. I picked up the two required adapters at my local Best Buy (in the radio install garage), for $8 a piece. PM me if you have any questions about the install or anything else!

Let us know how it goes. The Kenwood module will output song information via RDS. You can also add Sirius & Hi-Def radio if you wish. I've been holding off on going this route in the hope that Kenwood would update the module to accept a Bluetooth adapter as well.
What input adapter are you using in your boxters / caymans to go from a mini-plug to the FM antenna? I cant seem to find a good picture of anything that looks like what I want. I want to be able to use a mini-plug from either my Sirius receiver or my ipod. Thanks in advance guys!
any updates?
I am considering this same system, the kos-a200. I would put the kenwood sirius tuner with it as well. I am more concerned with the Sirius, than the iPod, but this solution looks adaptable to lots of future products as well.
Have you had a chance to install this yet?
Sirius has a a direct-wire FM adapater that costs $20 plus $20 for the antenna adapter listed in my post above. This plugs into the FM-out jack on your Sirius unit, not the 3.5mm mini jack. If you want to use a mini-plug on Sirius or iPod, then you need an FM modulator like Scosche ($24.95 on amazon.com) or the Kenwood one in the first post plus you still need the antenna adapter. The Scosche uses an included pigtail to convert mini-plug to RCA.
If only there was a set of RCA jack inputs on the back of the factory Porsche radios... THAT would be WAY too easy. Or has someone found a way to get that setup?
